Leading estate management company Provis says it has achieved major energy and utility cost savings worth over Dh3 million ($816,600) in the last six months in 12 communities across its portfolio. In line with its commitment to the environment, the company says it has introduced various sustainability solutions that have reduced 10,000 tons of CO2 emissions and nearly 22 million KWH of total energy from chilled water and electricity optimisation initiatives, resulting in a 66 per cent overall improvement in utility savings compared to the same period last year.
HP Aengaar, Provis CEO says: “Thanks to our team’s expertise, we were able to make significant savings across several communities we manage without compromising quality.”
“We are aiming to double the energy savings in our communities to exceed Dh7 million by the end of year and by over 15 per cent during the next two years. We strongly believe that the technology we’ve adopted as part of our digital transformation journey has helped us optimise our communities and will certainly support our ambitious energy savings goals,” adds Aengaar.
Other green features implemented in Provis-managed communities include the installation of energy-efficient LED lights and the implementation of several water conservation techniques using weather-based irrigation systems and the use of treated sewage effluent (TSE) for irrigation purposes that led to water savings worth Dh300,000.
Provis utilises a cloud-based real time building management system (BMS) that instantly collects data and automatically detect faults and therefore lowers operating costs and reduces energy bills. The BMS is projected to save four to six per cent of energy and operating costs annually across Provis-managed communities. Other technologically powered solutions such as data analytics of assets and cooling optimisation have already been rolled out and the company is seeing clear results across its portfolio.
The sustainable measures were rolled out in Gate & Arc Towers, Ansam, Sun & Sky Towers, Al Hadeel, Al Muneera, Al Gurm, Al Zeina, Al Bandar, Al Raha Gardens, Golf Gardens, Alghadeer and Al Bateen Park. More than 2,900 rural homes can be provided with electricity for a whole year with the total savings achieved by Provis.
Provis’s commitment to sustainable living and caring for the UAE’s beautiful surroundings and natural environment saw its headquarters in Abu Dhabi awarded with the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Platinum Certification by the US Green Building Council (USGBC) in February this year. It also marked Earth Hour by switching off all non-essential lighting for one hour across 16 residential communities in Abu Dhabi, resulting in more than 5,000 KWH of electricity being saved and 3,000 kg of CO2 equivalent reduced.
