The MasterPatio sliding system is designed to support the architects’ creative freedom, enable the craftsmanship of fabricators and improve the quality of life of the home owner, says its creator.

The MasterPatio sliding system addresses the key needs of architects, fabricators and consumers as a result of Reynaers’ close and continuous collaboration with them – both on product developments and projects, according to Ali Khalaf, Managing Director of Reynaers Middle East, the regional office of the Belgian aluminium systems provider.
“The new MasterPatio has been crafted by masters. It was designed to address a variety of market needs that have been identified by stakeholders such as architects and fabricators. The result: a master product by Reynaers, designed to support the architects’ creative freedom, to enable the craftsmanship of fabricators, and to improve the quality of life of the home owner,” says Khalaf.
MasterPatio has been designed to complement the company’s MasterLine 8 series of doors and windows and offers countless design capabilities.
“The diversity of Masterline 8 product portfolio along with the performance and dimensions of MasterPatio make it suitable for a wide range of applications, resisting high-rise building wind loads and reaching Passive House level thermal performances,” he points out.
Components and accessories, such as locks and receivers, are mostly concealed or flush-integrated in the profiles. In addition, the visible sightlines are kept consistent throughout sliding parts, reinforcements and other transom profiles.
MasterPatio allows designers to create a clean floor-to-ceiling façade. Sash heights up to 3.6 m, and moving glass of up to 400 kg have been tested successfully and can be applied in demanding projects, according to Khalaf. Its reversible sashes make it possible for inside and outside glazing with the same profiles. The cover profiles make sure no water is visible, even with high wind loads up to 600 Pa, he adds.
He continues: “Throughout its development, clean design was always one of the key drivers. This resulted in MasterPatio’s slim sightlines with glass-to-profile ratios of up to 90 per cent, allowing better aligned surfaces clear from visible plastic or rubber components, yet robust and strong enough for all applications. The frame can be fully concealed and the sashes have the same 87 mm visible widths as MasterLine 8. Wherever it makes sense, the systems share dimensions to make coupling simple, efficient and beautiful.”
The system has been designed to give fabricators an easy, reliable and hassle-free construction process; substantially reducing the risk of rework. Fabrication speed is further enhanced through features such as pre-machined drainage and easy alignment of system components. As a result of the variety of different profile lengths, less waste is generated.
“The fact that the system shares articles and design features with MasterLine 8, means less stock to carry and more consistency between the aluminium solutions. Getting started with MasterPatio is not training-intensive, given that it builds further upon Reynaers Aluminium’s expertise, and also shares articles and concepts with MasterLine 8.
“The installation processes are simple and fool-proof, allowing the process to flow effortlessly from start to conclusion. Hardware components such as glass supports, locking points and receivers are easy to position and adjust, while bigger overlaps ensure a qualitative finish during and after the installation process.
“The versatility of the MasterPatio system and MasterLine allows tailoring the proposed solution to the client’s wishes effectively. Reynaers’ reputation for high-tech quality products and its continuous introduction of novelties to its systems, gives fabricators a range of upsell possibilities,” he explains.
Sustainability
In developing MasterPatio, Reynaers again placed a strong emphasis on durability, longevity and energy efficiency. By using recycled PA6.6 insulation bars, carbon dioxide emissions of the system’s production are reduced by 1,130 tons per year.
“For the two-rail variant of MasterPatio, it is possible to achieve a Uw value of less than 0.8W/sq m K, for the two monorail variants it is even down to 0.75W/sq m K, which means that all three variants can achieve a Minergie Level or a Passive House Level. The designers placed a strong focus on optimal material usage and low maintenance without sacrificing high quality finishes,” Erik Rasker, CTO of Reynaers, points out.
“We have always placed a strong emphasis on the power of involvement of our stakeholders in the conceptualisation and design of new products and range extensions. Our partners, architects, fabricators and installers, are all part of the foundation and, therefore, also the success of this solution. Our Reynaers representatives will happily guide you around our Experience Room at the Reynaers Campus to discover the new MasterPatio up close,” he adds.
