Dubai Chamber HQ on track for early 2021 finish

01 October 2020

Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry has announced that 76 per cent of the construction work on its headquarters extension has been completed, with the state-of-the-art building set for completion by early 2021.

With the work in full swing, the project is on track to achieve structural completion as part of the first phase, with the second and final phase involving the installation of solar panels and wind turbines.

A pedestrian bridge connecting the extension with the main headquarters building will also be built by mid-January, said the Dubai Chamber. When completed, the five-storey building will span an area of 19,000 sq m and host 4,000 sq m of office space, comprising trade promotion offices, shops and building facilities restaurants, cafes, a modern gym and smart parking facilities with a capacity for 330 cars.

Dubai Chamber said the building is a symbol of sustainability and has been designed to meet LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Platinum certification with over 40 per cent of its energy requirements taken care of by clean sources, a strategic move made by Dubai Chamber in line with Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050.

After becoming the first existing building in the region to achieve  LEED certification in 2009, Dubai Chamber earned Leed Platinum certification for its headquarters in 2014.

The chamber also had invested Dh5.4 million ($1.47 million) in the University of Dubai, which in 2019 became the first Leed-certified net-zero energy building in the region, it added.
