Abu Dhabi’s Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT) through Abu Dhabi City Municipality and the Abu Dhabi Investment Office, has launched Phase Two of the Noor Abu Dhabi streetlighting project. The key project set up on public-private partnership (PPP) model will see 140,000 of the emirate’s streetlights replaced with energy-efficient LED lights.
The size of the new PPP project is more than three times that of Phase One and will result in significant electricity savings of almost 2,400 million kWh, a reduction of 76 per cent in power consumption equivalent to cost savings of Dh705 million ($192 million), throughout the 12-year concession agreement.
Noor Abu Dhabi is part of the government’s prioritisation of PPP frameworks for procuring infrastructure projects.
