Al-Bahar on 770G truck promotion drive

01 December 2020

Mohamed Abdulrahman Al-Bahar (Al-Bahar), the authorised dealer of Cat machinery, heavy equipment and power systems, has announced a special offer for buyers of the Cat 770G off-highway truck.

Under this promotion, which extends until the end of this year, Al-Bahar will be delivering this model at an attractive Cat finance interest rate of three per cent for three years in addition to a free extended warranty that covers the equipment with protection plan for five years or 15,000 hours of operation.

Ruggedly built and designed to help haul material safely and efficiently, the 770G is a perfect partner for any quarry, mine or earthmoving work, says a spokesman for the Sharjah-headquartered Al-Bahar.

“Its performance promotes low owning and operating costs, while the truck offers an operating environment that enhances productivity and features new transmission controls that deliver quick haul cycles with automotive-quality shifting and comfort. Its fuel-saving strategies and component life goals help manage life cycle costs.  This apart, the 770G sets new standards of safety in this size class of trucks with improved designs that impact braking, traction control, and egress,” he says.

Simple to maintain, this G series of off-highway trucks can be equipped with body options to match one’s material and hauling requirements, and in the long run, offer customers years of productive service, the dealer says.

For over 50 years, the rugged Cat off-highway and mining trucks have worked in the harsh conditions of mines, construction projects and quarries around the world. Pass-matched with Caterpillar’s wheel loaders and excavators, one can count on its haul trucks for maximum productivity at a low cost per tonne, the spokesman says.

The Cat 770G boasts a C15 ACERT diesel engine which offers 360 kW (483 hp) of net power at 1,800 rpm; full power altitude capability up to 3,000 m; a solid engine block that uses grey iron with ribbing for strength; six single-piece, steel pistons with steel skirts that help control thermal expansion; pendulum absorbers on the single overhead camshaft that reduce noise and vibration; and compacted graphite and steel cylinder liners that offer long life and tight tolerances for combustion quality.

The fuel system is mechanically actuated but electronically controlled (MEUI). It responds quickly to load changes and injects extremely fine fuel particles for excellent combustion quality and fuel efficiency, says Al-Bahar.

The Cat planetary powershift transmission is an automatic, seven-speed transmission built for heavy-duty, off-road applications. Electronic control strategies called APECS manage clutch pressures, torque and throttle during each shift. The result is a quick and responsive truck that has excellent performance on grades, according to the spokesman. It also delivers a smooth and comfortable ride for the operator.

“The 770G has an updated Traction Control System (TCS) to keep you moving even when the ground conditions aren’t perfect. You’ll see improvements in fuel use through new and flexible fuel savings.  The Cat 770G offers best-in-class operating experience with automotive quality shifting, noise reduction, and cab updates,” says the spokesman.

According to him, the 770G provides the operator with the option to activate the standard fuel economy switch from within the cab. The standard economy mode works by reducing the engine power. Customers can change the power output of the truck by 0.5 to 15 per cent to save fuel.

The truck also features an adaptive economy mode, which uses on-board sensors and electronics to find opportunities to reduce power based on steady state speed. The operator can set a productivity threshold that the truck should stay above. The truck will regulate the power level based on the haul profile and may change the power of the truck several times in one cycle.

Other features include the auto neutral idle, engine idle shutdown and speed limit. Auto neutral idle, which can have a measureable impact on fuel savings, works by placing the truck in a neutral state if the operator has been idle in a forward gear with the brake or retarder applied. The truck will automatically resume the forward gear when the brake is released or the throttle is applied.

The engine idle shutdown feature must be activated by the customer. If engaged, the truck will warn the operator that it is about to shutdown after a prolonged period of idling in ‘Park’. Customers can set the idle time limit, which when reached, the truck will shut off the engine.

Speed limiting is a new feature for G Series trucks, which allows the truck to travel at an efficient engine speed (rpm) and gear selection. It works with Automatic Retarding Control and offers fuel efficiency and component life benefits over gear limiting.

An important feature of Cat trucks is their reliable, heavy-duty brake performance. The design principle is one of long life and excellent performance in quarry, mine and earthmoving applications.

Cat trucks are equipped with hydraulically actuated rear brakes and caliper-disc type front brakes. Each truck has primary service brakes, retarding capability and a parking brake.
