5,000 homes ready in East Hidd

Bahrain’s Housing Ministry has announced the distribution of 5,000 residential units at the Qulaya district in the East Hidd region of the kingdom to the beneficiaries in line with the order of HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, reported BNA.

The ministry’s Undersecretary Shaikh Khalid bin Humood Al Khalifa said these homes will be distributed in batches to ensure the correct order of the beneficiaries.

In addition to these housing units, the ministry has completed gardens for children, open spaces, afforestation projects, as well as sidewalks and bicycle paths that extend along the coastal strip surrounding the city, it added.

 

New medical complex on track

Work is moving at a steady pace on the BD12.1-million ($32 million) Muharraq Medical Complex project in Bahrain being funded by the Saudi Fund for Development (SFD).

With nearly 53 per cent of the project already completed, the complex is likely to be ready in the third quarter of 2021, stated the BNA.

The project includes a 100-bed long-stay healthcare unit that is fully equipped with medical and supporting administrative services.

The centre will also include a reception area for emergency patients, wings and wards for patients, in addition to an isolation unit for patients with infectious diseases, a lab, a pharmacy, X-ray rooms, sterilisation units, a physiotherapy unit, administrative support services and a central building for non-medical services.

 

Oman launches smart water meters

Oman’s Public Authority for Water (Diam) has announced the launch of its operation of smart water meters that were installed in Muscat and Musandam governorates, reported Oman Daily Observer.

In addition, these smart meters are being linked to its systems through the Internet of Things (IoT) technology. The smart meters project is expected to contribute to reducing water losses in the Governorate of Muscat by at least 20 per cent, said senior officials.These metres are available in two types: postpaid and prepaid. They were implemented in several stages, including the pilot, first and second stages.

In the pilot stage, 10,000 postpaid meters were installed in Musandam. Some 4,100 postpaid meters were installed in the first stage in Muscat, while in the second stage, 179,300 postpaid meters are being installed in Muscat.
