Four products from Geberit, a European leader in the field of sanitary products, received accolades from the jury at the iF Design Award 2021, one of the world’s most celebrated design competitions organised by iF International Forum Design GmbH.
The iF Design Award, recognised as a symbol of design excellence around the world, this year welcomed almost 10,000 submissions from 60 countries.
Geberit award winners, announced last month, include the Geberit ONE mirror cabinet with intuitive operation, the floor-even shower surface Olona, the expanded Geberit ONE range with new washbasins and bathroom furniture and the iCon bathroom series.
The ComfortLight lighting concept on the Geberit ONE mirror cabinet, with its four different lighting moods received particular praise, with the cabinet offering perfectly tailored lighting for every time of day and bathroom activity.
“The lighting can be controlled intuitively and is designed to perfectly illuminate the mirror image, washbasin and room with four light sources integrated into the mirror cabinet, without dazzling the user. It also illuminates the washbasin and the tap while giving the room a vivid – and therefore larger – appearance,” said Daniel Engelhard, Managing Director, Geberit International Sales.
Geberit Olona
The Geberit Olona floor-even shower surface won over the jury both in terms of its design and function, he said.
“This is demonstrated perfectly by the minimalist design of the drain,” he explained. “It is equipped with a drain cover surrounded by a thin chrome ring, which makes the cover appear to float. The water flows underneath the thin silver edge into the drain. In order for everything to flow away quickly, cleaning is simplified by a comb insert on the drain cover. The special shower surface offers protection against slipping as it complies with the second-highest antislip class B. Meanwhile, plumbers also benefit from quick and reliable installation of the shower surface, thanks to the sophisticated system technology and integrated sealing fleece. These characteristics were reflected by the high marks in all categories.”
Geberit ONE washbasins, furniture
The design and scope of the furniture range for the Geberit ONE bathroom series were both expanded in 2021.
“The jury was particularly impressed by the modular concept, which guarantees freedom of design and allows the customer to put together a bathroom that is perfectly tailored to his/her tastes and the space available. The series also won plaudits for its special functions that address the requirements of cleanliness and optimisation of space. For example, there is no longer any need for a trap recess for the washbasin, which results in added storage space in the drawer of the bathroom cabinet. With the new expansions, the focus is on the washplace as the central element in the bathroom. The individual components – washbasin and bathroom furniture – are perfectly coordinated and can be combined with each other in a variety of ways. This proved a real winning argument,” Engelhard remarked.
Geberit iCon
Since 2009, the popular Geberit iCon complete bathroom series has stood for modern design with clean lines in the middle price segment. The major expansion to the range and comprehensive design update meant the series took home the fourth iF Design Award 2021 for Geberit this year. “Regardless of the size of the bathroom, the iCon series always has the right solution on hand from its comprehensive range of ceramic appliances and bathroom furniture. During the latest revision of the furniture concept, special attention was paid to optimising the storage space,” he added.
