With the increased focus on hygiene, Geberit has unveiled a new tap system for ablution areas which offers touchless operation, durability in public areas, Swiss quality and elegance.

Swiss sanitary solutions provider Geberit has launched a new tap system for ablution areas that is aimed at enhancing the elegance, durability and hygiene of these spaces with high-quality products.
According to Louise Pitt, Marketing & CRM Manager of Geberit International Sales, the tap system and its Duofix element have been adapted to fit the specific requirements of ablution areas that are usually found in mosques, in prayers rooms of shopping centres and also in private housing. 
This tap system addresses some of the challenges that taps in these ceremonial washing areas face.
Pitt elaborates: “In most ablution areas, the user leans on the tap for support whilst washing and most taps become loose. The spout can become loose and the thread damaged when the user is holding and applying force.”

Geberit’s new system for ablution areas features a robust tap connection and a splash-resistant cover plate. The faucet is firmly fixed to the frame inside the wall and offers an excellent robust solution for ablution areas.  
The system comprises a choice of two wall-mounted faucets – the Geberit Brenta and the Geberit Piave – that offer touchless operation for improved hygiene. These are complemented by the Geberit Duofix element, the Geberit cover plate and the sealing set, all designed for wall-mounted taps with concealed function boxes.
The tap models, Brenta and Piave, designed by London-based design studio, Christoph Behling Design, feature a  slim, timeless and elegant form. The wall-mounted taps are supplied in lengths of 170 mm and 220 mm in order to accommodate the multitude of possible combinations.
“The elegant design of our slim wall-mounted taps combined with the flat tileable cover plate offers great freedom of design,” Pitt points out.
The tap housings are made of chrome-plated brass. The water is guided through a reinforced plastic hose that extends from the functional unit in the function box to the tap aerator on the tap outlet. The taps are easy to clean and maintain, economical to operate, and can cope with the heavy-duty use in semi-public and public sanitary areas.
The system is easy to install, thanks to the pre-assembled Geberit Duofix frame and is vandal-proof due to the robust tap connection in the element, she says. All electronic components, with the exception of the IR sensor, are well protected from moisture in a separate function box which is splash water-resistant.
The Geberit tap system is available for mains or battery operation as well as for self-sustaining power supply via a generator unit. Furthermore, the models can be equipped with or without a mixer.
