Wirtgen showcases its latest innovations

01 March 2022

The Wirtgen Group will be celebrating the world premiere of its W 120 Fi, which represents the company’s new generation of compact milling machines, at the World of Asphalt 2022 to be held this month (March 29 to 31) in Nashville, Tennessee, US.

The innovative technologies of the proven Wirtgen F-series large milling machines have now been integrated in the company’s compact milling machines, says the Germany-headquartered group.

At the leading asphalt trade show and conference, the Wirtgen Group will be showing 11 exhibits representing a cross-section of its market-oriented and holistic solutions for the entire road construction process. The focus will be not only on Wirtgen Group solutions, but also on the critical issues of cost-effectiveness and sustainability, it says.

The company was recently at the World of Concrete show (January 18-20) in Las Vegas, US, where it showcased a complete concrete paving train – comprising the new WPS 102i placer/spreader, an SP 94i slipform paver, and a TCM 180i texture curing machine.

The new WPS 102i – which marked its global launch at the show – is Wirtgen’s latest addition to its range of two-track placer/spreaders. The machine allows concrete to be placed for working widths ranging from 4 to 12 m, at thicknesses of up to 500 mm. Thanks to the fully modular machine design with standard hydraulic quick-change couplings, the WPS 102i can be as quickly and easily reconfigured as its “little brother”, the WPS 62i. This ensures fast transport from job to job and maximum machine availability. The WPS 102i can be precisely controlled by stringline scanning, stringless 3D applications, or Autopilot 2.0 from Wirtgen.

Also premiered at the show was the SP 94i,  a fully modular, 10-m class inset slipform paver that impresses with an enormous variety of applications it can be used for in the construction of wide roads and highways, airport aprons, taxiways, and runways, according to Wirtgen.
