SNC-Lavalin, a global leading engineering and construction group, said last month that it has been awarded contracts for two key projects, one in Jeddah – the Historic Jeddah development – and the other in Riyadh – King Salman Park.
The first is a two-year project management consultancy services contract awarded by the Saudi Ministry of Culture to support the development of Historic Jeddah, a Unesco World Heritage site.
The area boasts more than 600 historic buildings, 36 old mosques and five major historical markets.
According to SNC Lavalin, the project work will extend for the next 15 years, during which the Historic Jeddah area will be developed according to multiple tracks, including infrastructure and services, developing the natural and environmental field.
Meanwhile in Riyadh, SNC-Lavalin has been awarded a district cooling services contract by Green Park Cooling Company, a subsidiary of Saudi Tabreed – a leading provider of sustainable district cooling schemes for some of the largest projects in Saudi Arabia – for King Salman Park.
King Salman Park is one of Riyadh’s four megaprojects launched by King Salman Bin Abdulaziz, in 2019. The park aims to provide a variety of sports, cultural, artistic, and recreational activities.
As per the 27-month contract, SNC-Lavalin will provide engineering, procurement, and construction services for the park’s district cooling plant with a capacity of 60,000 tonnes of refrigeration.
