Finlay unveils new screener, jaw crusher

01 June 2024

Finlay, a leading global manufacturer of mobile crushing and screening equipment, has launched its new 890, an aggressive, heavy-duty two-deck scalping screener with a comprehensive variety of screen box media options and a variable screen angle.

Known for their high production capacity, efficiency and durability, Finlay scalping screens are said to offer robust and versatile solutions for a range of applications from fine screening to heavy scalping.

The Finlay 890 offers the ability to process a high tonnage throughput of up to 700 tph depending on mesh sizes and material type, says Alan Witherow, Product & Applications Manager at Finlay, a brand belonging to Terex Corporation, a global manufacturer of lifting and material processing products and services.

“The Finlay 890 boasts advanced features and capabilities for operators seeking high-performance screening solutions. Its versatility ensures suitability across a wide range of applications, reinforcing Finlay’s commitment to engineering excellence and our dedication to providing our customers with cutting-edge equipment that meets and exceeds their expectations,” he states.

“The aggressive screen box is engineered to deliver a high-quality screened product in secondary screening applications such as aggregates, topsoil, construction and demolition (C&D) waste, biomass, compost materials, overburden, foundry waste and processed ores and minerals,” explains Witherow.

Finlay 890 has a modular configuration with a 6.1 m by 1.8 m top deck and 5.6 m by 1.8 m bottom deck screen and offers variety of media options including abrasion-resistant punched plate, bofor bars, tines, and a selection of heavy-duty mesh sizes. Equipped with a hydraulic raise screen box function, the Finlay scalping screener has convenient access to the bottom deck media for maintenance or replacement, he adds.

The discharge conveyors have individual variable speed controls, granting operators the precision to tailor speeds for specific applications. Adaptability is further enhanced with the capability to interchange both side conveyors in the field, either on the same or opposite sides. Additionally, the Finlay 890 model can transition into a two-way split configuration, effectively ejecting oversized materials from both the top and bottom deck.

“The fully self-contained plant can be hydraulically folded and be ready for transport in less than 30 minutes, making it the ideal machine for large-scale contract screening projects where a highly productive and dependable screen is paramount,” Witherow points out.

The Finlay 890 is available with hybrid technology consisting of on-board electrical motors, offering the flexibility to run the plant from an outside power supply or standard on-board engine.

Meanwhile, Finlay has also unveiled two new jaw crusher models – the J-1170+ and J-1170AS+ – offering customers dynamic, efficient solutions for diverse materials processing needs.

Both models are significant upgrades over their predecessors – the J-1170 and J-1170AS, Finlay says.

Finlay mobile jaw crushers are renowned for their capabilities in the reduction and sizing of aggregates for construction materials and recycling construction waste. The J-1170+ provides high production capacity with large reduction ratios, whereas the J-1170AS+ provides the flexibility of a jaw crushing and screening plant on one machine.

The most significant upgrade of both machines is the new Terex 1100 mm by 700 mm jaw crushing chamber that delivers impressive capacity and significant reduction ratios. The jaw chamber can be configured specifically for construction and demolition waste (R variant) or quarrying and mining applications (A variant). Both variants have a high-powered hydrostatic drive to provide precise chamber control and reverse functionality for clearing blockages and assisting in sticky and difficult applications, such as asphalt recycling.

Other upgrades to the chamber achieve higher compression strength ratings and ease of operation. “The chamber has undergone a rotation accompanied by an enhanced-angle pre-screen to facilitate the smooth flow of material, the removal of fines, increased throughput and a cleaner end product. Load sensing hydraulics and valve placement at a lower level simplifies troubleshooting, assists in secure diagnostics and, most importantly, enhances safety by reducing the need to work at elevated heights,” Witherow explains.

The J-1170AS+ model features a detachable on-board single deck 2.44 m by 1.52 m sizing screen that can be removed quickly, allowing the operator to use the machine as a standard unit, giving flexibility depending on the application.

Both the J-1170+ and J-1170AS+ machines were put through rigorous testing to ensure they can perform in the most demanding applications, including aggregates, mining, construction demolition waste and recycling industries, he adds.
