High-performance cone crusher launched by Metso

01 June 2024

Metso of Finland has expanded its Nordberg HPe crusher series, which was launched last year, with the introduction of the Nordberg HP350e cone crusher, which is claimed to offer several benefits and improvements, especially for diverse rock processing operations.

The Nordberg HPe crushers are engineered to meet the evolving and constantly increasing performance needs of the aggregates and mining industries.

“Compared to the first crusher of the series, HP200e, the new crusher belongs to a larger size class of crushers. We are excited to expand the Nordberg HPe series to bring to the market a wider offering of these high-performance crushers fit for different production purposes,” says Ilkka Somero, Product Manager of HP Cones at Metso’s Aggregates business area.

Metso is a frontrunner in sustainable technologies, end-to-end solutions and services for the aggregates, minerals processing and metals refining industries globally.

The Nordberg HP350e cone crusher offers several benefits including: enhanced performance; improved uptime and serviceability; wider application coverage; and efficient parts lifetime economy.

It features new enhanced kinematics and more efficient chambers, which boosts performance in secondary and tertiary application by up to 10 per cent (as compared to HP300).

Its no-backing liners make for quick, easier and safer liner change, while the head anti-spin brake extends liner wear life. The crusher has an optional ring bounce monitoring feature for active overload protection and a new feed cone lifting tool, for safe lifting and handling, says Somero.

The Nordberg HP350e affords wider application coverage as it has three alternative kinematics to choose from and an exceptionally wide chamber offering with 10 innovative application-specific no-backing chamber designs for secondary, tertiary and quaternary stages.

Metso offers fully covered aftermarket support as most parts are common between the earlier HP300 design and HP350e and the rest remain either interchangeable or upgradable, says Somero. Current HP300 owners can purchase Metso’s HPe upgrade kits, enabling economical access to some of the new HPe features. If need be, the new HP350e can also utilise older-generation HP300 backing liners features.

Furthermore, Metso is also introducing the first HPe series crusher on tracks for improved mobility. The Lokotrack LT200HPX is equipped with a Nordberg HP200e cone crusher and a two-deck pre-screen with up to 40 per cent higher capacity than the LT200HP.

Meanwhile, in line with its efforts to innovate crushing chamber solutions to improve aggregate customers’ crusher economy, Metso has introduced several new wear part products that are designed to improve uptime and crushing performance and make aggregate producers’ operations more sustainable and profitable.  These include new wear life improving liners for the Nordberg HP Series cone crushers; and new improved Coarse Corrugated jaws for the Nordberg C Series jaw crushers, combining the best characteristics from Metso’s most-selling jaw dies. It has also expanded the application coverage of the Metso O-Series crusher wears.
