01 June 2024

Juffali Commercial Vehicles (JCV), the authorised distributor for Mercedes-Benz trucks in Saudi Arabia, has unveiled the eActros and eEconic electric trucks, marking a milestone in the country’s transition to emission-free transportation.

“Introducing eActros and eEconic marks a significant milestone for sustainable transportation in Saudi Arabia,” said Heiko Schulze, CEO of Juffali Commercial Vehicles. “This also demonstrates our commitment to responsible transportation solutions and a sustainable future, aligning with our core values.”

Saudi Arabia is ramping up its adoption of renewable energy sources in a significant push to meet the goals of Vision 2030. This strategic shift signifies the kingdom’s commitment to environmental sustainability and positions it as a contributor to global efforts to combat climate change, JCV said, adding that this transition will ensure a more prosperous and sustainable future for Saudi citizens.

Mercedes-Benz Zero Emission Vehicles (ZEVs) have already hit the roads of Saudi Arabia, showcasing exceptional efficiency, durability, and their pivotal role in advancing towards a zero-carbon world.

JCV now offers a diverse range of battery electric vehicles (BEVs) with the eActros BEV tractor head equipped with 330 kW and 600 kW battery capacity and BEV chassis configurations of 4x2 and 6x2, providing optimal solutions for inter-urban distribution applications.

Meanwhile, the state-of-the-art eEconic 4x2 and 6x2 models are tailor-made for specialised applications such as municipal services, waste management, and airport operations.

This innovative truck range boasts unique features, including a lower frame, enhanced visibility, and advanced safety technologies from Mercedes-Benz, making it the preferred choice for users in these demanding sectors, JCV said.

The eActros and eEconic models, featuring innovative eAxle technology, are revolutionising conventional powertrains by enhancing power efficiency and creating more battery space, the company added. With a range of up to 500 km and rapid charging capabilities, they are tailor-made for heavy-duty distribution in urban areas, airports and waste management facilities.

Charging these vehicles is straightforward with a standardised charging system, offering efficient charging times and effortless operation. Equipped with state-of-the-art driver assistance systems, including Stability Control Assist, Lane Keeping Assist, and Active Brake Assist 5, the eActros ensures both safety and comfort for drivers and pedestrians alike. Its Acoustic Vehicle Alert System adds an extra layer of protection, making it audibly detectable by other road users at speeds up to 60 km/h.

JCV also guides businesses through the transition to electrified fleets. Schulze explained: “Our newly developed eConsulting programme guides users through the step-by-step transition to eMobility. Initially, we create a comprehensive plan tailored to electrify your depot. This starts with analysing your fleet’s routes, allowing us to collaboratively determine the appropriate charging infrastructure and necessary software and hardware solutions. We transparently break down all associated costs and potential subsidies, analysing and optimising them for efficiency.
