Work in full swing at Sabah Al Ahmad City project

01 July 2024

Kuwait’s Public Authority for Housing Welfare (PAHW) has announced that work is moving at a steady pace on its ambitious project – Sabah Al Ahmad City – with power connected to 40 of the total 60 buildings that will house a total of 1,110 apartments within the mega development.

The PAHW authorities are currently focusing on developments in the southern and eastern sectors of the city, as well as a vertical housing initiative in the investment suburb.  This phase of the project aims to create 20,380 plots, stated PAHW.

The officials said the East Sabah Al Ahmad City project, which involves the development of 1,148 homes alongside public buildings, road infrastructure, and service networks, was also reviewed.

A 61.5 sq-km development, Sabah Al Ahmad City comprises 10 neighbourhood clusters arranged around the city’s central business district, and bordered by a ring of light industrial buildings.

The central district boasts a sports stadium, museum, city university and a major city park, which forms the heart of the masterplan’s landscape strategy. Petal-like green spaces branch off from the city park, running between each of the neighbourhoods to create green urban links throughout the masterplan.

Meanwhile, PAHW has awarded contracts worth KD173.5 million ($564 million) for the construction of roads and other infrastructure works to serve the 13,812 residential units coming up within South Sabah Al Ahmad City.

The first contract, worth KD93.7 million, was awarded to China State Construction Engineering Corporation for the construction and maintenance of road and infrastructure networks for 7,623 residential units for the suburbs N5, N7, N9 and N10, while the second one for the works related to 6,189 residential units for the suburbs N4, N6, N8 was clinched by Sinohydro Corporation after both the Chinese firms emerged as the lowest bidders. The entire work on both contracts will be completed by both companies within 900 days.
