Six Brazilian companies will promote their products and services over a 120-sq-m stand at The Big 5 show in Dubai, aiming to consolidate their brands and boost exports.

As in previous editions, the Brazilian stand will be organised in partnership with the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce – which will have its own space in the Brazilian pavilion – and the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil).

The Arab Brazilian Chamber’s CEO Michel Alaby comments: “The Big 5 offers opportunities for Brazilian companies in a promising market in a year in which the country is facing a downturn and especially when the construction sector has been hit hard.

“Besides, the Brazilian Real has depreciated by 50 per cent against the US dollar in 12 months, which makes Brazilian products more competitive. The fair also offers Brazil firms opportunities to participate in the large projects in the Middle East and Asia.”

According to the chamber, the companies attending the fair this year include Pettrus, which offers decorative stones; Deca, which provides sanitary ware and metal fittings; Tramontina, which manufactures tools, vats and sinks; Poliex for marble; Itagres for porcelain and ceramic tiles; and Rohden, which manufactures doors. Tramontina, Pettrus and Deca will occupy two stands each.

Alaby says among the large projects planned for the coming years are shopping malls and hospital complexes in the Gulf, and expansion of airports, construction of islands and railways and the expansion of the infrastructure sector in Asian countries, such as India.

He says The Big 5 provides an opportunity for companies that have already attended the exhibition to strengthen their brands.

“Companies such as Pettrus, Deca and Tramontina have already been to other editions and will present their range of products again, which shows that they are investing in the Middle East market and want to consolidate their brand there,” Alaby concludes.
