Rock-crushing and screening equipment from Powerscreen is helping build some of the region’s major road projects, including the Orbital Highway and Truck Road and the East-West Corridor project in Qatar.
Major contractors working on these key road projects in the country are using high-quality aggregate supplied by Al Mohsen Engineering Company, which is using a fleet of Powerscreen machines.
Al Mohsen Engineering Company has invested in a range of Powerscreen rock-crushing and screening equipment to meet the aggressive demand for aggregates of major local industry players involved in some of the most ambitious road development programmes to have been undertaken by the country in recent decades.
The first two machines Al Mohsen purchased from local Powerscreen distributor, Arabian Agencies Company (Araco), were the Powerscreen Chieftain 2100X mobile screen and Powerscreen Trakpactor 500 impact crusher.
With demand for quality aggregates having increased, the company has taken delivery of two further Trakpactor 500 and a Trakpactor 320 impactor, two Chieftain 2100X screens and a Warrior 2100 heavy-duty scalping screen.
Al Mohsen operations manager Mohamad Naji says the company has a great deal of experience with Powerscreen. “The machines are excellent. The equipment can sustain intense and heavy work for long hours and is very productive. We find the Trakpactor 500 impactor easy to operate and to service when required.
He adds: “The efficiency, productivity and uptime of the Powerscreen equipment has a huge impact on our daily activity and allows us to meet the needs of our clients on time, which is the ultimate goal.”
Powerscreen, a global equipment manufacturer, places strong emphasis on meeting clients’ needs and keeping in close contact. The company’s international sales director, Stephen McCartney, recently visited the site where the equipment is working in Qatar.
He comments: “Powerscreen has had a strong track record in Qatar and in the wider Middle East for many years where our machines are well known and well respected. The considerable investment by Al Mohsen and the positive feedback they have provided since taking delivery of their machines serves to underline this. A strong relationship with our customers and distributors is important to us.”
He says that Powerscreen ensures customers get high quality machines which are delivered on time. “We are proud that our equipment is working in the construction of some of the most ambitious infrastructure projects in the region, the legacy of which will last for many decades,” he added.
Al Mohsen, established in 2012, has already become a huge player in the construction segment thanks to its ability to supply large volumes of high quality aggregates to the market.
It is one of Qatar’s leading suppliers of aggregates to major construction companies. Among such companies, Al Mohsen has supplied material to the J&P Group construction company for use in its ongoing Orbital Highway and Truck Road project, which is expected to be completed in 2017.
The Orbital Road project will create a vital North–South connection bypassing Doha city, thus reducing traffic and congestion within the Qatari capital. J&P Group’s scope of work includes design and construction of 45 km of road network with eight lanes and including four major interchanges and all related overpass/underpass structures.
The feed material for the machines includes excavated limestone boulders which are transported from Lusail to the road construction site where Al Mohsen’s Powerscreen plant is working 20 hours every day. The machines are configured to deliver aggregates of 0-70 mm and 0-50 mm, and the plant produces up to 7,000 tonnes of crushed and screened material per day.
Al Mohsen also supplies to other major players, such as Midmac, Al Darwish, Al Badr Group, Doha Logistics, ATM Group, Bin Tawar and Yuksel Midmac.
Another client is China Harbour Engineering for its East-West Corridor project. Upon completion, the East-West Corridor will provide important strategic links with south Doha and connect the Orbital Highway and Truck Road and the new Hamad International Airport.
Commenting on support from the local Powerscreen distributor, Naji says: “The support we receive from Araco is highly commendable. With the excellent performance of our machines, Al Mohsen is now considered mature in our business field in the Qatari market.”
Araco has been Powerscreen distributor since 2009 and is a leading provider of commercial equipment in Qatar, backed by strategic investments and a strong product portfolio. It has a 46,000-sq-m facility and a team of highly-trained technicians and service personnel offering after-sales support around the clock.
Araco general manager Antoine Azar says: “We have a very strong working relationship with all of our customers. Our technical and customer support is one of our business’s core strengths and we enjoy seeing our customers succeed. We are very proud to be involved in the construction of such important infrastructure for Qatar.”
