TEKLA, a leader in building information modelling (BIM) software for the engineering and construction markets, has released the newest version of its BIM program.
Tekla Structures 20 is said to improve project team communication, collaboration and workflow efficiency by better organising models, managing tasks, avoiding clashes, and handling the large amounts of information required for today’s complex structures.
“What’s more, the constructable models created with Tekla can incorporate more detailed information than ever before. Tekla Structures 20 brings more flexibility to modelling while reducing the need for manual data transfer,” says a spokesman for Tekla, which is part of Trimble Navigation.
Information now flows more efficiently from design, purchasing and production to the shop floor. Tekla also provides more links to analysis and design (A&D) solutions to remove the technical and compatibility barriers that compromise workflow between project teams and subcontractors using different types of applications.
To ease the management of the massive amounts of constructable building information needed for contemporary structures, Tekla Structures 20 offers several improved tools such as Organiser, which delivers more efficient model information management and increased automation; Task Manager, which offers a systematic way to plan detailing, fabrication and erection on site; and Clash Check Manager, which allows communicating, assigning, coordinating and avoiding structural conflicts before they appear on site to help save money and time.
“Tekla Structures 20 contributes to the essential processes of today’s information-intensive construction industry,” says Risto Raty, executive vice-president of Tekla and general manager of Trimble Buildings’ Structures Division. “It dramatically improves project team communication and collaboration by providing the detail needed for building complex structures, offering process-improving tools, and effortlessly working with other software applications.”
