Tyco launches range of control accessories

The UK-based Tyco Valves and Controls has introduced a new comprehensive range of control accessories to complement its existing line of valves and actuators, thus providing an integrated system from one source.

Known as Tyco AVID (Actuator Valve Interface Devices), the range incorporates position monitors, analogue (electro-pneumatic) and'Smart' positioners, control position monitors and network monitors which interface with the major network protocols.

"Typical of the advances offered by the AVID range is the'ZR Plus' for the control and position monitoring of automated valves," says a spokesman for Tyco Valves & Controls, a world leader in the manufacture and supply of valves, actuators, control accessories and instrumentation products. "Designed specifically for general-purpose or hazardous area applications, the'ZR Plus' is a compact, Cenelec-approved package, conforming to IP67 ingress rating and certified for hazardous area, Zone 0, 1 and 2 services."

He continues: "The often awkward task of calibrating valve positioners has been made significantly easier and safer with the launch of the AVID'EaziCal IR' range of non-intrusive analogue positioners. Local, manual calibration can be accomplished via the push-button facility of the AutoCal touchpad or by simply implementing an infrared signal from a handheld - this feature being a first for AVID."

Valve usage throughout the process industries is becoming increasingly reliant upon electronic network control systems, and the AVID'SmartCal' intelligent positioner, utilising the HART protocol, provides the basis of diagnostic interpretation of valve performance and status, the spokesman points out.

As process valve markets continue to migrate towards more intelligent valve interfaces, the AVID range offers the process operator a wide choice of'Smart' products that will communicate on all the major network protocols, he adds.

The AVID range of actuator control devices utilises the ModMount low-profit mounting base, the HiVue visual display for local position identification and the EasiFix quick and simple switch adjustment system, which are said to the devices easy to mount, set and use.
