Oasis Trading and Equipment Company, the authorised and full-line Caterpillar dealer for the Sultanate of Oman, reports that business has been on the upswing and the company has been busying meeting orders for equipment even at short notice.

''New construction and road-building projects have increased the activities of many of the contractors, which in turn has led to the purchase of additional equipment and increased demand on our support services,'' says Nicolas Maas, general manager of Oasis.

''The biggest challenge was to source all the machines that contractors ordered at very short notice and meet the demand for immediate or quick deliveries.''

However, Oasis Trading and Equipment Company was able to rise to the challenge and shorten the delivery time on many of the orders thanks to the assistance of other Caterpillar dealers in the region.

Maas continues: ''Caterpillar products and services have always been synonymous with the development of Oman. Caterpillar and Oasis have always been in the forefront of providing equipment users with superior products and services needed to get the job done. Heavy and light construction equipment, engines, generators sets and related products are the core of our company's activities.

''However, it is the additional services, support capabilities and our people that set Oasis apart and gives us the position of leadership in the field of construction equipment supplies in the Sultanate of Oman.

"The Caterpillar equipment product line - consisting of more than 300 machines - sets the standards for our industry. The Caterpillar range continues to be upgraded and expanded, as is the case with the customers for that product line,'' says the sales manager, Fahed Abo Saleh.

Oasis Trading and Equipment Company has recently introduced a number of Caterpillar products into the Omani market including:

Skid-steer loaders, designed, built and backed by Caterpillar to deliver exceptional performance, versatility, ease of operation and serviceability and backed by customer support, says Saleh.

Telehandlers, specially designed to meet the varying needs of both the construction and agricultural industries. The comprehensive range of standard features and optional equipment extends the scope of their applications including construction, agriculture, utilities and waste disposal warehouses/depots.

The company intends to introduce Caterpillar road reclaimers shortly onto the Sultanate's market.

''These reclaimers pulverise the asphalt layer and mix it with the underlying base to stabilise deteriorated roadways,'' he explains. ''The reclaimer can add asphalt emulsions or other binding agents during pulverisation or during a separate mix pass.''
