An exhibition is being organised to highlight business opportunities for investors in the international sports equipment and infrastructure sector of Qatar in view of the fact that the country is set to host the Asian Games in 2006.
Many companies are reported to have already committed to attend the Qatar Sports International exhibition (QSi), to be held from December 9 to 12 this year. This is said to be the first B2B event designed to showcase related products and services to an audience of buyers and specifiers charged with the responsibility of making the games a reality.
QSi organising committee chairman Khalifa Al Subaey said "apart from an annual budget of around $75 million, much more will be invested in infrastructure and sports facilities for the Asian Games."
QSi is being organised by the Qatar National Olympic Committee (QNOC) in partnership with leading exhibition organiser Fairs and Exhibitions.
Gulf Traffic debut for safety baton
Dubai: A new illuminated roadside warning that maximises night-time visibility for highway emergencies or roadwork sites will be launched in the Middle East later this year.
US-based PolyBrite International will debut its baton and baton base at Gulf Traffic 2002, a major vertical conference and exhibition for the Middle East's traffic and transport industry.
The three-day event is being backed by five UAE municipalities, including Dubai, five GCC ministries and the International Road Federation, according to Jessica Sutherland, general manager of organiser IIR Exhibitions & Conferences.
The show will be held at Dubai's Crowne Plaza Hotel from October 26 to 29.
PolyBrite is among three US companies which, to date, have contracted for the event. It joins companies from Canada, the UK, Eastern Europe, the Middle and the Far East, which have also confirmed.
Date set for Project Lebanon
Beirut: Project Lebanon, the ninth international trade exhibition for construction technology, building materials and equipment and environmental technology for Lebanon and the Middle East, is slated to take place in Beirut, Lebanon, from May 13 to 17 next year.
Accredited by the Union des Foires International (UFI), the show attracts over 600 companies from 33 countries, says Corinne Khallouf, international business development coordinator with IFP, the organiser.
It includes 11 official country pavilions and offers an ideal opportunity to expand existing sales or initiate new contacts, Khallouf adds.
