TCM drives quality higher with TPM

01 July 2003

In its pursuit for excellence, TCM has launched a new concept for maintaining its plants and manufacturing equipment to instill even greater trust and reliance on its products, says Aljomaih Holding Company, the Japanese equipment manufacturer's Saudi distributor.

The new concept called TPM, Total Productive Maintenance, brings maintenance into focus as a vitally important part of the production business. Its goal is to increase production while increasing employee morale and job satisfaction.
"Downtime for maintenance is scheduled as a part of the manufacturing day and in some cases as an integral part of the manufacturing process," says a spokesman for TCM. "It is no longer simply squeezed in whenever there is a break in material flow. The goal is to keep emergency and unscheduled maintenance to a minimum.
"TPM is the systematic execution of maintenance by all employees as well as management through small group activities area at large plants. The dual goals of TPM are zero breakdowns and zero defects."
TCM has received ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certification for both its Shiga and Ryugasaki plants.
"TCM manufactures a wide range of forklift options, some made for specific applications such as cargo container stacking, transporting large concrete pipes or heavy coils of steel or concrete blocks for building construction, transporting a yacht in a marina or unloading a stack of cartons with a load grab. Customers are given the best-suited model for their unique applications," says Abdullah Al Ali, general manager for Aljomaih heavy and agricultural equipment division.
Aljomaih offers TCM's quality forklifts as standard diesel, gasoline, LPG, and electric models locally  in Saudi Arabia. These models could be part of the total logistic solution in manufacturing, warehousing, construction or transport systems.
Aljomaih also represents Fiat-Allis, Iveco Aifo and Case New Holland of Italy, Class and MTU of Germany, Tacom of Japan, Nokka-Tume of Finland, Perkins of the UK, Merlo, Nardi of Italy and Arcusin of Spain.
It sells a wide range of generator sets and engines, wheel loaders, dozers and graders, concrete mixers, vibratory compactors and asphalt rollers, forklifts and telescopic handlers, among various other equipment.
