Zamil Steel's Structural Steel Business Unit (SSBU) has been awarded the contract for the potline buildings of the Alba Line 5 expansion project for a value exceeding SR100 million ($26.6 million).
Zamil Steel's scope includes fabrication, supply and erection of structural steel buildings. Work will be implemented in phases starting from September, for completion by May next year.
"Maintaining our usual stringent quality procedures and timely delivery are very crucial for this prestigious project," says Khalid A Al-Zamil, president of Zamil Steel Industries.
Zamil Steel also supplied the potshells and superstructures for the Alba Line 4 project in 1991 for the aluminum smelting plant.
Zamil Steel Industries' SSBU, established in 1983, is a leading manufacturer of structural steel and plate works for various industrial and commercial applications in the Middle East. It supplies structural steel support products requirements for power and desalination plants, petrochemical, gas and oil and fertiliser plants, high-rise multistorey buildings as well as other industrial and commercial complexes.
SSBU is now expanding its line of products to include manufacturing of pressure vessels and heat exchangers. It is currently undertaking a major expansion of 100,000 sq m to its production facilities to accommodate increasing market demand for structural steel and related support products.
