Leading construction equipment manufacturer Putzmeister, which has provided its equipment to several large-sized projects in the region, will showcase the latest in truck-mounted concrete pumps and placing booms, stationary concrete pumps and concrete wet spray systems at this month’s bauma construction equipment exhibition in Germany.
PM will also be presenting special-purpose pumps for concrete, mortar and high-density solids, which have been specially designed to take into consideration the conditions of application peculiar to use in underground mining.
In the class of XXL truck-mounted concrete pumps, Putzmeister is introducing the M 6x on a standard six-axle chassis.
“With a pronounced vertical boom reach of more than 60 m, this flagship in the fleet of heavy-duty concrete pumps leads the field in performance,” says a spokesman.
Development of the M 6x boom was based on the latest computer simulations and the company has used high-grade materials to fabricate the substructure, the hydraulic cylinder and the delivery lines.
Three factors were accorded high priority during the design of the XXL truck-mounted concrete pump, says the spokesman:
• The largest possible degree of boom flexibility to enable the boom arms to be used to their full extent in high-rise building projects;
• Maximum site serviceability in difficult terrain (four axles steered, three axles driven); and
• As small a support width as possible, as on a building site, only the combination of boom length and the flexibility of a long-reach boom pump can provide advantages.
“This long-reach boom concrete pump in the super class allows Putzmeister to meet even the most extreme requirements and demands of both the operator and the site as the machine is totally flexible in use, in spite of its size, says the spokesman.
Another innovation on display at bauma is the modified version of the truck-mounted concrete pump M 58, which will sport a divided final boom arm. Until now the M58 was available with just four arms. The modification allows the “flyer” to be set at an angle, if necessary, so that when pouring concrete in high-rise buildings, all the properties of a five-arm boom are available.
Similar to the boom types M 52 and M 6x, the M 58 is equipped at the front with TRDV (trapezium diagonal boom pedestal), which can be positioned as required so that the large-reach boom pump can be safely operated and its reach can be optimised even in tight spaces, the spokesman says.
Putzmeister will also showcase its completely redesigned M 47-5, the new “Big Boy” in the 40-m class. The compact, five-arm, roll Z-fold machine – a shorter version than the M 46-5 with an overall 12-m long chassis – is mounted on a four-axle chassis. Both versions are equipped at the front with a space-saving diagonal pedestal, similar to the M 42.
M 36 as experimental vehicle
An experimental unit of the truck-mounted pump M 36, which is seen worldwide as the most successful machine in the 30-m class, will also be introduced.
Elaborates the spokesman: “The machine features many trend-setting solutions and interesting details which Putzmeister is convinced will meet with the approval of its customers. The advantages include:
• Easier concrete pump operation in combination with Ergonic controls which provide additional information for the operator and service personnel;
• Optimised fuel management;
• A particularly service-friendly modular construction of the core pump to increase the availability of the machine; and
• A large volume pump unit with 250 mm delivery cylinder diameter and weight-optimised structure.
The larger cylinder volume of the heavy-duty pump reduces the number of piston strokes and transfer tube switchovers per cu m of concrete. This has a positive effect on the smooth running of the machine, wear and tear and the intake behaviour of the concrete pump, he says.
The German manufacturer will also introduce its new concrete wet sprayer Sika-PM500 P. The mobile spray concrete manipulator is a joint development between Putzmeister and Sika as successor to the Wetkret and is manufactured by Putzmeister Ibérica.
Says a spokesman for the company: “The Sika-PM500 P has been designed mainly for wet shotcrete spraying in tunnel constructions (dimensions 4.5 m to 17.5 m) and for continuous shotcrete placement in underground chambers and on high inclines. The machine is equipped with, among other things, a Putzmeister-BSA 1005 core pump (output up to 30 cu m/h), a Sika liquid metering device, tanks for concrete accelerating agents and safe-to-use controls.
The telescopic spray arm designed by Putzmeister with a three-metre sliding arm is equipped with a Sika nozzle spray head which provides optimum manoeuvrability to ensure top-quality shotcrete placing and provide an extremely even spray pattern with even less rebound, he says.
On request, the Sika-PM500 P can be supplied with compressor and remote controls (instead of standard cable control). The machine is equipped with four-wheel steering and four-wheel drive. In addition to great ground clearance, the modern concrete wet spray machine sports very robust outriggers.
PM also plans to showcase other equipment from its range, which includes the Z-fold M28-4 concrete pump with a weight-optimised arm assembly and in two or three axle chassis; the PUMI truck mixer pumps; the optimised stationary BSA concrete pumps of up to 470 kW drive rating, the compact, self-propelling and all-terrain concrete pump – BSA 1005-D on crawler treads; the site concrete pump BSA 1002-D Multi; and the compact BSA 702-D concrete pumps.
