Al Jomaih unveils TCM's new line of reach trucks

01 March 2004

In response to the increasing demand for reach trucks in the global materials-handling sector, Japanese equipment manufacturer TCM has revamped its reach forklift to efficiently meet current usage needs for this type of equipment.

TCM recently unveiled a new line of reach truck models (1.0-1.8 tonnes), which incorporates several breakthrough features. The new trucks are now being introduced to the Saudi market by TCM’s distributor in Saudi Arabia, Aljomaih Holding Company.
“While improving the safety aspects of its truck models, TCM has incorporated an automatic locking system in case of system failure, a front-wheel braking system, AC control motor for travel, and a stronger steel frame,” says Abdullah Al-Ali, general manager of Aljomaih’s heavy equipment division.
To enhance manoeuvrability, the company has introduced an AC control motor for fork operation in addition to a conveniently small-sized steering gear. The new models also feature an automatic torque power control. The company claims that the innovations mean that the truck would require less power for cargo operation.
Says Ali: “The truck offers longer operation time per charge – 8.5 hours – coupled with an automatic power cut system and special electricity charge device.
“The operator is also provided with a wider driver space, easier battery handling and an integrated panel board. A newly-equipped protector for the driver makes the unit safer to operate,” says Ali.
Aside from TCM, Aljomaih also represents Iveco Aifo and Case New Holland, Merlo and Nardi of Italy, Claas and MTU of Germany, Tacom of Japan, Nokka-Tume of Finland, Perkins of the UK and Arcusin of Spain.
