The Pentagon has named a new group of seven US and British contract winners to rebuild Iraq, kicking off a fresh phase of the US-funded reconstruction of the war-shattered country.
The deals cover management of programmes involving six infrastructure sectors from oil to electricity.
The biggest deal, valued at $28.5 million, went to CH2M Hill/Parsons, a joint venture between CH2M Hill of Englewood, Colorado, and Parsons Water Infrastructure of Pasadena, California. It is to oversee the Public Works and Water Sector Programme Management Office.
Berger/URS, a joint venture between the Louis Berger Group, of Washington, DC and a company described as URS Group of San Francisco, California, was awarded an $8.5 million contract for transportation and communication project management plus a separate contract, of the same size, for security and justice-related project management.
San Francisco-based URS is an international construction planning and management company listed on the NYSE.
