Known the world over for their versatility, manoeuvrability and reliability, Bobcat skid-steers have been the cornerstone of the expanding global compact equipment market, says its manufacturer.
“Bobcat’s broad product offering in the skid-steer range is just one of a number of factors that maintains industry leadership in today’s competitive environment,” says a company spokesman.
With the launch of the new S205 model, Bobcat now offers a much wider choice. The S205 has a rated operating capacity of 930 kg and a tipping load of 1,860 kg. The new model, which significantly increases the capacity of the Bobcat medium-frame skid-steer range, is based on the S185 skid-steer, but with more power and operating capacity. The new S205 – now at the top end of the medium frame range – is powered by a 45 kW Kubota V2403T Tier II diesel engine and has an operating weight of 2,831 kg.
Like all Bobcat skid-steers, the S205 is designed to handle a wide variety of applications including a comprehensive line of more than 45 job-matched attachments for use in construction, landscaping, recycling, general industry, agriculture and more. The S205 is available in two versions – the standard flow model provides a hydraulic flow of 62 l/min and an optional high-flow version provides a maximum hydraulic flow of 97 l/min to operate attachments requiring high hydraulic horsepower such as road planers and stump grinders.
The new S205 is a vertical lift path skid-steer with multiple-linkage boom arms, combining a reach of 752 mm with a lift height of 3,002 mm, and is thus particularly suited to jobs involving a lot of lifting, carrying and placing, says the spokesman. The dual-tilt cylinder design on the boom arms provides increased roll back power for digging and loading applications.
“The low-profile lift arms and the innovative cab design on the S205 enhance the operator’s view of key areas – the sides, front and rear corners of the machine – during operation. As well as optimum safety, a better view of the work area results in greater work efficiency. In addition, the work light configuration on the S205 doubles the amount of illumination to the work area for better operation in low-light areas,” says the spokesman.
“Thanks to a large opening and the dual-tilt cylinder lift arm design, entering and leaving the cab on the S205 is easy. The seat bar, which pivots from the rear, provides secondary restraint protection and serves as a comfortable armrest.
There is a range of options for the S205 loader, including the deluxe instrument panel with keyless start, back-up alarm system and Power Bob-Tach. There are three possible control systems for the S205 loader. The first is the traditional system (the H pattern) that combines hand levers and foot pedals. For operators who prefer hand controls, Bobcat offers the Advanced Hand Control (AHC) system. The third choice, the Advanced Control System option, allows the operator to select between hand controls or foot pedals for lift and tilt functions by simply flipping a switch in the cab, adds the spokesman.
S130 – enhanced performance
Among other developments within the skid-steer family, Bobcat has replaced the popular 753 radial lift path, conventional wheelbase skid-steer loader with the new S130 model, offering faster cycle times, a faster travel speed and higher auxiliary pump flow. The enhanced performance results from the use of the higher power Tier II Kubota V2203-E diesel engine producing 34.3 kW of power at 2800 rpm.
Thanks to the increased auxiliary pump flow, the lift arm and bucket cycle times have all been decreased. Combined with the faster travel speed of 11.6 km/h, these characteristics provide enhanced performance for a variety of digging, material handling and many other applications in the construction, equipment rental, landscaping, local authority and agricultural sectors.
“The S130 is particularly suited to jobs in confined areas and those where digging and grading abilities are the highest priority,” the spokesman explains. “It has an operating weight of 2,283 kg, a rated operating capacity of 600 kg and a tipping load of 1,200 kg. It also has a reach of 485 mm with a lift height of 2,771 mm.”
“With 7.5 per cent higher hydraulic pump flow compared to the 753, the S130 is an even better tool carrier for the more than 40 different attachments designed for use with this machine. The S130 is equipped standard with the quick-change Bob-Tach attachment-mounting frame. However, customers can choose the optional Power Bob-Tach system to change attachments simply by flipping a switch inside the cab,” he adds.
Features of the new loader include an adjustable cushion seat, the Bobcat Interlock Control System (BICS) for safety, a deluxe cab, the dual path cooling system, as well as front and rear lights. Options include AHC and the Advanced Control System (ACS) for foot or hand control of lift and tilt functions, a deluxe instrument panel with keyless start system, a front door, heater, and back-up alarm.
Compact tracked loaders
Meanwhile, Bobcat has expanded its highly successful range of compact tracked loaders with the launch of the new T180 model and a new enhanced version of the T190 compact tracked loader, both powered by the new Kubota 45.5 kW (61 hp) V2403M-DI-T direct injection diesel engine. The T180 and T190 are designed for a wide range of applications in the construction, rental, recycling, landscaping, local authority, agriculture and nursery industries.
Based on the same chassis and undercarriage design, the T180 differs from the T190 in having a radial boom arm instead of a vertical liftpath configuration. The radius path lift arms on the T180 are well suited to digging and grading work, whilst the vertical liftpath boom on the T190 is ideal for lifting and loading applications, he says.
The rated operating capacity of the T180 is 800 kg compared to 860 kg in the T190 and the tipping loads of the two loaders are 2,286 and 2,460 kg, respectively. The T180 loader has operating weight of 3,211 kg and the T190 has an operating weight of 3,286 kg. As well as these models, the Bobcat range of compact tracked loaders includes the T200 and new turbo-charged T250 radial lift arm models and the top-of-the-range T300 vertical liftpath loader.
In common with these models, the T180 and T190 compact tracked loaders have a dedicated tracked undercarriage to provide superior traction and very low ground pressure for operation on very soft or muddy ground and sand, as well as on uneven terrain. The very low ground pressure means the loaders are ideal for any application where soil compaction and ground disturbance should be minimised. Moreover, since the rubber tracks will not mark paved surfaces, the tracked loaders are ideal for travel over and use on public roads, the spokesman points out.
Special applications include use in clean-up work after severe storms, floods, and natural disasters, particularly in areas and in conditions where the use of larger machines is restricted.
Like all Bobcat loaders, the T180 and T190 are equipped as standard with the Bob-Tach system for fast, easy change of attachments. They are also available in high-flow hydraulic versions that can be used to power high-flow attachments such as the planer, wood chipper and stump grinder. In addition, customers can choose the optional Power Bob-Tach attachment mounting system to change attachments simply by pressing a switch inside the cab.
Features of the loaders include an adjustable cushion seat, the BICS for safety, a deluxe cab with a front door, the dual path cooling system, as well as front and rear lights. Other options include the ACS for foot or hand control of lift and tilt functions and a deluxe instrument panel with keyless start security system.
