Honeywell offers versatile system

HONEYWELL of Germany has launched new a security system which the company claims satisfies the security needs of institutions in a very cost-effective manner.
Over the past few years, organisations have changed dramatically, modifying their operational structure as well as the organisation of their premises in order to optimise their customer services.
With this in mind, Honeywell designed the Intelliguard 9000, a global security system built to custom fit individual needs and still remain user-friendly, says a company spokesman.
"Thanks to its multi-area software, the Intelliguard 9000 is suited for any type of environment, no matter how complex the premises or the schedules. This versatile system supports up to eight areas or schedules, 10 zones per area, and 256 detection points including door contacts, hold-up switches and a variety of detectors such as motion, heat, ionization and seismic."
Flexibility is the main asset of the Intelliguard 9000 and the preciseness of its software and the reliability of its proven electronic components make this system unique, he says.
When an alarm is detected, the system pinpoints the area, the zone violated or the protected object, as well as the detector triggered. Therefore, if the alarm is justified, the Honeywell Customer Service Centre is able to immediately dispatch precise information to the police, guard company, etc. On the other hand, in the case of a false alarm, the problem is easily identified upon the first service call.
"The complexity of the Intelliguard 9000 is transparent to the user. Its software allows the user to individually access the system in the language of his choice. Also, its ability to accommodate several control centres allows access from multiple strategic areas," he says.
"The Intelliguard 9000 may identify up to 100 users, recognising the access assigned to each user as well as the display language. Moreover, each user has a personal code he may change at any time without prior notice," says the spokesman.
The system's key features are:
Multiple protection services: Functions such as vault, safe, night depository, hold-up, burglary monitoring and critical condition supervision can be combined into one cost-effective control system; Area controlled security: This facility allows organisations to protect against external and internal theft. Up to eight different areas of a facility can be armed and disarmed independently to provide access in one area while others remain secured; Individual points of protection: The system can identify up to 256 points (doors, heat, seismic detectors or other sensors) on the display of the control centre; Linked/master area: An area may be linked to another security area so it is automatically turned off when this last area is accessed. Alternatively, it can be a master area that will arm only after the linked area is armed; Pass code access: A personal pass code (ID and code) must be entered each time the system is operated to prevent unauthorised use. Dual pass code (dual custody) is available for higher risk areas. Up to 100 individual pass codes are available; Authority levels: One of four authority levels is assigned to each pass code. This limits each user to only those commands allowed by their authority level in the area they were assigned; ID transmission: In monitored mode, the user ID is transmitted to the Honeywell Customer Service Centre on all closing, opening and force arming events; Event log: The event logger automatically stores all events with user ID to provide an audit trail. All events are date and time stamped; Multiple control centres: Up to four control centres can be connected to one Intelliguard 9000 control unit to allow system operation from several different locations in the facility; Quick command keys: This provides quick access to frequently used functions such as arm, disarm and test. The Honeywell Customer Service Centre telephone number is also available with a single touch of a key; Positive menu guidance: The control centre prompts the user through its friendly menu driven mode and option function. Its positive visual and audible feedback guide the selections. Calendar/clock display: When unused, the control centre displays current date and time in order to help the user respect the area schedules and reduce false alarms; the optional reset of closing time allows customers to enter a temporary change in closing time into the system's control centre. The Intelliguard 9000 can even restrict how late an employee can extend a closing time; One person hold-up test: During the hold-up test mode, the control centre provides a display of each actuator tested along with an audible signal, which allows one person to perform this test. All actuators tested are automatically logged in sequence following the identification (ID) of the user that generated the test. All actuators are reset at the end of the test. Periodic testing provides the assurance that the system is operating properly. Burglary protection: The system can be programmed to protect the totality or just portions of the premises. This protection is totally independent from other alarm functions; Ambush signalling (option): Users can inconspicuously advise the Honeywell Customer Service Centre of a problem if they are forced to deactivate the system; and Standby battery: System switches over to standby operation in the event of AC power failure. Intelligent bi-level power supply charges, maintains and monitors the battery.The specifications of the system are:
Dimensions: 9000 control unit: 14.5 x 10.5 x 3 (37 cm x 27 cm x 7.5 cm);
Control centre: 9.5 x 5.5 x 3.5 (25cm x 14 cm x 9 cm);
Voltage input - primary: 16.0 VAC, 40VA Class II plug-in transformer; secondary: 12VDC 7AH reachargeable battery.
Environment: temperature: 0 to 49 deg C; relative humidity: 5 to 95 per cent at 30 deg C non-condensing.
