SimonsVoss develops new locking system

01 August 2005

Leading German access control and biometrics manufacturer SimonsVoss Technologies has developed the latest digital locking and access control system, which it claims does not require electricity to work.

A recent instance where the systems proved themselves was when there was a power outage in Dubai and the normal card technology refused to allow access into homes and establishments for lack of power – however, buildings using SimonsVoss digital locking systems and transponder technology did not face such a problem, says a spokesman.
“All of our customers in Dubai could easily open their doors despite the recent power failure,” said SimonsVoss Technologies Middle East managing director Rainer Erdmann.
“SimonsVoss has developed the new transponder technology keeping in mind power outages,” he adds.
“Power failures could happen anywhere in the world - be it Europe, America or even here in the Middle East. Hence, we created a technology that is wireless and does not require electricity.
“Our digital locking systems offer increased security and are designed to work in any kind of emergencies,” he says.
Established in 1995, SimonsVoss is a market and technology leader worldwide in the digital locking and organisation systems sector. The company has the latest security solutions, wireless networks, access control, biometrics and even special applications for the security of children and the products' wireless network supports any other existing networks.
“Multi-functionality, integration into networks and a layout allowing any number of users, guarantee that our technology can be used as a complex organisation and access control system,” says Erdmann.
The company claims SimonsVoss is the only one of its kind in the world whose products and applications – from biometric applications to its digital locking system 3060 – are completely wireless.
Cost of installation and maintenance is relatively lower than any other system in the world, he claims. The technology can be easily upgraded without any further installation. It is an open solutions platform and it supports every other existing systems. The door can be opened using a transponder, biometric transponder, mobile phone or a tip code from SimonsVoss.
Since the launch of digital Locking and Organisation System 3060 in 1998, the high-tech company has continued to innovate the locking technology.
SimonsVoss – which is headquartered in Unterfohring near Munich – has in the meanwhile come to be viewed as the European market and technology leader in the area of battery operated electronic locking and access control systems.
