KALEKIM, established in 1973, is a major producer of construction materials in Turkey with a market presence in key regions globally.
Kalekim is a member of the Kale Ceramic Group which is claimed to be the biggest tile manufacturer in Turkey and Europe and the third largest in the world.
Kalekim products find application in the basement up to the roof. These materials can be divided into the following groups:
Kalekim claims to be the biggest company in Turkey in its area of specialisation and is among the five largest such companies in the world, claims a company spokesman.
With an annual capacity of 300,000 tonnes, its market share in Turkey is more than 60 per cent, it says. The company has more than 600 distributors throughout the country, he says.
The company also supplies these materials to some Middle East countries including Saudi Arabia and Lebanon; Europe and Asia.
Kalekim has two plants, one in Istanbul and the other in Isparta. These plants are fully automated and controlled by computers. Some 150 employees work in the plants.
Kalekim gives great importance to quality and it says it is the first company to get a certificate from the Turkish Standards Institution (TSE) for the tile adhesive products. "Our products have also been certified by the German DIN standards and last year our company was awarded the ISO-9001 certificate," he says.
Kale Ceramic produces floor and wall tiles, refractors and isolators. Its annual production of tiles is more than 21 million sq m. About 40 per cent of the production is exported to countries all over the world, including the Middle East.
