UK manufacturer launches new valves

01 May 2006

UK-based Ball Valves, a company involved in international sub-sea oil and gas exploration and part of the Royal Dutch Econosto Group, has recently launched the full range of Econ brand two-piece ball valves designed for general utilities, water, petrochemical, marine and downstream applications in the oil and gas industries.

“In addition to the new Econ ball valves, we have also introduced a range of one, two and three-piece screwed end carbon, stainless steel and bronze ball valves specifically for the specialist marine industry applications with large stocks now on the shelf in the UK. Both the weld and flanged-end connections are available in this new range,” says Clive Gamble, spokesman for the company.
Ball valves play a crucial role in all industries with a wide range of application areas. With their quarter-turn operation mechanism, they are easy to operate and require little maintenance. The company maintains a shelf stock of approximately 1,000 valves in the UK, with up to 3,000 units in Holland ready for immediate delivery. A 16-week delivery period is the norm, in cases where special requirements have to be met.
“The Econ-branded ball valves, which will be available in the Middle East through Econosto outlets, offer a unique and excellent combination of reliability, price and quality, being compliant with most appropriate approvals which includes being certified ‘fire safe’ to API 607 Fourth Edition as standard. Secondary metallic sealing prevents leakage through the valve port and graphoil stem and seal spiral-wound graphoil body gasket ensures the integrity of the stem packing and body joints. The solid full-bore ball and seals are pressure-balanced to provide a long life with optimum primary seal performance and life. Meeting the very strict emission requirements of TA-Luft (VDI 2440, section 3.3.1.3) for which the valves are certified, additional features such as the double stem sealing with ‘O’ ring and Belleville spring loaded gland packing, provide a blow-out proof design,” Gamble points out.
All valves are leak-tested in the UK or in Holland to guarantee a complete leak-free shut-off in accordance with API 598 (ASME) or EN 12266 (DIN). For more explosive applications, the Econ ball valves incorporate anti-static features to ensure electric continuity between valve stem and body, complying with ATEX 94/9/EC.
The valves come with standard locking hand lever or ‘T’ bar for actuation along with a long list of options including electric, pneumatic or hydraulic actuation.
Ball Valves Company is equipped to supply the Econ ball valves in both carbon and stainless steels as standard with a variety of other metals available as options, further broadening potential usage. The valves supplied in stainless steel are NACE compliant as standard, however carbon steel valves can also be supplied as NACE compliant if required.
