Cat boosts loader, excavator range

01 August 2006

Caterpillar, a world-leading manufacturer of construction and mining equipment, has expanded its range of wheel loaders and excavators with new workhorses that offer customers the opportunity to “move more to make more”.

The new Cat H-Series wheel loaders and D-series mid-size hydraulic excavators have been launched on the regional market by Mohammed Abdulrahman Al Bahar, Caterpillar’s UAE-based dealer.
The new Cat H-Series wheel loaders, Caterpillar promises to improve output, through product benefits, reliability, and dealer support, thus ensuring a great return on investment. The new wheel loader features key changes that will boost productivity and reduce operating costs. It increases lift force by up to 20 per cent and, when combined with Advanced Combustion Emission Reduction Technology (Acert) technology, delivers faster cycle times and up to five per cent more fuel efficiency that the previous models, says a spokesman for Mohammed Abdulrahman Al Bahar.
Along with improved productivity, enhanced operator comfort and serviceability have been built into the new wheel loaders. Some of the changes include electro-hydraulic implement controls with simultaneous lift-and-tilt capabilities, a five-degree forward-inclined left access ladder, a new cooling system, and centralised hydraulic and electric service centres for improved maintenance. These machines have been designed to handle a wide range of tasks in construction and bulk material handling.
“Building on Caterpillar’s proven track record with the on-highway Cat engines using Acert technology, the 966H wheel loader leverages this technology with the Cat C11 engine,” says the spokesman. "The proprietary Acert technology is US EPA Tier 3 compliant and provides advanced electronic control, precision fuel delivery, and refined air management for outstanding engine performance and durability.”
The new machine offers a choice of the standard steering wheel and the optional Command Control steering wheel. Turning the Command Control steering wheel about 70 degrees from the centre point achieves full machine articulation. The system reduces operator effort in applications such as truck loading.
The new D-Series mid-size hydraulic excavators have been designed for optimum performance and versatility for a variety of jobs, ranging from utility and urban applications through to heavy construction and quarrying. With an increased lifting capacity of up to five per cent, heavy loads can be easily moved in the full working range of the machine. The new high-pressure hydraulic systems has boosted the bucket digging force by up to six per cent and the stick dipping force by up to seven per cent.
For more than 80 years, Caterpillar has been building the world’s infrastructure and, in partnership with its worldwide dealer network, is driving positive and sustainable change everywhere.  A highly trained parts and service team is on standby to help minimise the owning and operating costs and maximise productivity.
