Dammam-based Kha-lifa Al Joaib Group of Companies will be returning for the second time to the Saudi Build 2006 with a wide range of new products related to construction industry of the Middle East.
“We got a good response at Saudi Build last year, when we made our debut. In fact, we finalised some major business deals during the event,” says Rajesh Pathak, manager of sales and marketing of the company. “Some of our new products under the spotlight at this year’s edition will include safety netting, warning mesh, thermo-reflective insulation (Bubble Cool) and plastic folding crate boxes, which will be promoted alongside our existing portfolio of kitchen cabinets, vanities, closets, wooden doors, accordion doors and Venetian blinds and other injection-moulded products.”
The new products are produced by two firms within the Al Joaib group of companies – Joaib Packing Materials Factory and Joaib Plastics and Rubber Factory.
Bubble Cool
The thermo-reflective insulation afforded by the Bubble Cool products from Joaib Packing Materials Factory make them extremely suitable for a wide range of residential and commercial uses, says Pathak. They consist of one and two layers of Barrier Rubble material laminated between layers of aluminium foil provides excellent thermal resistance. The ‘bubble’ material contains an air retention layer designed to provide increased strength and puncture resistance.
“Bubble Cool is considerably more effective than conventional insulation in reducing radiant heat transfer,” he says. “It reflects up to 97 per cent of radiant energy in addition to resisting other types of heat transfer, thus providing effective insulation.”
Unlike other types of mass insulations, Thermo Reflective Insulation (Bubble Cool) does not absorb moisture at all. If installed in conjunction with mass insulation, it can help them stay drier and warmer, eliminating dew points that may occur in the mass insulation, and improving performance, he adds.
The product offers many advantages such as high tear strength, flexible, light weight, durability, waterproof, and high-efficiency performance, non-toxic, prevents mould and mildew, lowers heating and cooling costs all year-round and does not require protective clothing or respirators to install among other benefits.
The product is available in a variety of types to suit particular applications. While the Paramount range can be used for the construction of walls and roofs of residential buildings, industrial and factory shades, warehouses and container liners, the Premium range is designed for the insulation of air-conditioning ducting, pipe wrap for water and gas. The Classic and Unique ranges are ideal for under floor applications in residential, commercial and industrial building. The company also has the Special range that is applicable for warehouses and food packaging and Genuine range that could be used as insulation material and packaging of food and other items.
Safety netting
The safety netting/barrier fencing products have been researched and developed by the Joaib Plastics and Rubber Factory and are suitable for use as warning and signalling of obstacles, road work, building sites, notification of hazards as well as for crowd control and temporary barricades for event management, among other applications.
“There is growing demand for these products since they are cost-effective, durable, simple to install, UV (ultraviolet) stabilised, rot proof, have high tensile strength, are easily transportable and reduce wind speed without creating turbulence. Available in a standard size of 1 m by 50 m rolls in grades ranging from 100 g/sq m to 400 g/sq m, they come in four colours – orange, blue, green and black – and different lengths and width can be produced as per customer requirements.
Warning mesh
Warning meshes that give the alert on buried cables and pipes during excavation work is another popular product that the company will promote at the show. The mesh is produced by Joaib Plastics and Rubber Factory.
“The mesh is laid in the ground above the cable or pipe, providing the most economical way of warning excavators of buried services below ground. Its high tensile strength ensures that is unlikely to be damaged during installation and can easily be seen during excavation. Available in a variety of sizes with a option of lead-free colour pigments, these can also be manufactured to specific client requirements,” says Pathak.
Crates
Joaib Plastics and Rubber Factory’s plastic folding crates are made of durable and heavy-duty polypropylene and are available in different colours and sizes. These types of crates can save 80 per cent of space when folded and thus can be stored easily. They are suitable for packing and transportation of many items such as ranging from garden plants to soft drinks and bakery products.
“Business has been looking up for Al Joaib over the last year, thanks to our quality which has received recognition from various companies in the region. We are currently focusing on developing innovative products in interior designing while penetrating new markets in Europe,” adds Pathak.
The Joaib Group of companies was founded by Khalifa Al Joaib – chairman of the group in 1979 – with the setting up of Joaib Furniture Factory in Dammam. It is staffed by more than 100 employees, has branch offices in Dammam, Al Khobar and Riyadh and registers an annual turnover of around $7 million.
Joaib Furniture Factory initially starting its activities with the manufacture folding doors and Venetian blinds and soon expanded to include kitchen cabinets, vanities, closets, wooden doors, accordion doors made of leather, wood and PVC, wardrobes, Venetian blinds counter tables, and post-form and flush doors. The company also holds claim to being one of the largest kitchen cabinet manufacturers in the region.
The company’s client list includes organisations both for the private and the government sectors such as Saudi Basic Industries (Sabic), Saudi Aramco, Royal Commission housing projects, General Organisation for Social Insurance (GOSI), ministries and the Saline Water Conversion Corporation, among others.
The group’s second company – Joaib Packing Materials Factory – was established in 1991 as the first factory in the region to produce air bubble packing products for a vast range of packing needs. Its present manufacturing capacity can meet 10 million sq m per year of the market demand. While 50 per cent of its production is for domestic consumption, the balance is exported to other markets of the Middle East. The company recently launched production of Thermo Reflective Insulation (Bubble Cool) products, which will be exhibited at the show.
The latest addition to the Al Joaib Group of Companies is the Joaib Plastic and Rubber Factory, which was established in Dammam last year. It markets its products to the construction, agricultural and horticultural industries in the region and is currently looking forward to expanding its markets in Europe, US and Asia. Joaib Plastic and Rubber Factory is specialised in the manufacture of folding crates, safety netting and warning meshes, among others. Besides safety netting, it also offers other types of netting products for ground stabilisation, shelter and shading, horticultural nets and sundries, crop protection, tree guards, amenity fencing, plant support and protection nets, wind breaks and tree ties.
Al Joaib will be present at stand 813 at the Saudi Build show this year.
