Hawa has a smooth operator in the wings

01 March 2007

Hawa, an internationally-recognised specialist in designing innovative sliding hardware systems, has extended its popular sliding hardware family by adding the Hawa-Junior 250, a super-strong heavyweight for the smooth handling of wood and metal doors weighing up to 250 kg.

The move has enabled Hawa to enter an entirely new weight class, enabling carpenters, metalworkers and designers who seek high quality to make it the hardware of choice in this class.
“The Hawa-Junior 250 is characterised by smooth and silent running properties, since solid trolleys with floating bearings and anodised alloy tracks ensure continuous excellent running properties and practically noiseless operation. The trolleys are virtually corrosion resistant and have successfully passed durability tests comprising more than 150,000 movement cycles,” says a spokesperson for the Swiss company.
“A rattle-proof floor guide is responsible for top running quality as it prevents heavy sliding doors from rattling when subject to draughts or during opening and closing operations. Stop bumpers keep the doors in their final position, and the retention force is adjustable to suit the weight of each door. Hawa has guide tracks to suit systems that are exceptionally wide or subject to heavy use,” she adds.
There are two versions available in the new sliding hardware system, each with a different suspension unit. The Hawa-Junior 250/A has a screwed-on suspension bracket, with the sliding door simply inserted sideways into the bracket by means of a suspension screw. The Hawa-Junior 250/B, on the other hand, has an integrated suspension unit that enables extremely low installation heights The gap between door and top track measures just 10 mm (a plus/minus 5 mm) and is pleasing on the eye, she points out. Various accessories are available for both sliding hardware variations.
As an efficient, state-of-the-art partitioning system, Hawa-Junior 250 is suitable for use in various public and commercial buildings such as hotels, offices, banks, hospitals and churches. The hardware system can be used to partition rooms, reception rooms or halls, and can move even large wood or metal doors and gates with surprisingly little noise.
Founded in 1965 in Mettmenstetten in Switzerland, Hawa is an ISO 9001:2002-certified company that has established a reputation for its high-quality sliding solutions and inspired architects to design creative space concepts using its innovative systems for sliding and folding doors and walls.
