Reed launches four specialised shows

01 November 2007

To meet the demands of the region’s booming construction market and support its next phase of growth, Reed Exhibitions Middle East has launched four specialised trade shows under the umbrella of Building Futures Gulf by Batimat, which will be held next year in Abu Dhabi.

The events, which aim to provide a focused business-generation and knowledge-gathering platform for the region’s construction section, will be held from April 20 to 23 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (Adnec).
The shows will also serve as the Middle East debut for the internationally-known Batimat brand, which is the world's largest trade exhibition focussing on the building sector. Batimat's last edition in 2005 received 400,000 visitors, including 80,000 international visitors and 2,700 exhibitors.
Dedicated to high-performance buildings, Building Futures Gulf by Batimat will focus on key aspects of modern building construction, encompassing the technical, energy-related, economic, and environmental and safety aspects of construction. “The shows will present solutions right from the building structure and its external envelope to elements involved in ensuring comfort inside the building for its users and are aimed at property developers and owners, architects, engineers, consultants, dealers and contractors,” says Leonard Lecoq, show manager for the event.
The four shows include:
• Structure Gulf Exhibition (focuses on structural technologies and implementation techniques);
• Envelope Gulf Exhibition (solutions for cladding, façade, joinery and shutters);
• Intelligent Building Gulf Exhibition (intelligent solutions, systems and networks to improve user comfort inside a building); and
• HVAC Gulf Exhibition (thermal comfort solutions focused on temperature and air control, energy, plumbing and water treatment).
“The concept of having four specialised exhibitions focused on providing a comprehensive look at the building sector has been well appreciated by the market,” says Lecoq.
“Besides innovations such as the business meetings programme that will help all registered exhibitors facilitate discussions with decision-makers in the construction industry presentations and seminars focusing on each of the four themes of the exhibition will be organised with the participation of experts."
The event, which is being held with the support and participation of the International Union of Architects (UIA) and the UAE Contractors Association, is expected to feature over 200 exhibitors over an area of 20,000 sq m and is poised to attract over 14,000 visitors. The inaugural edition has already attracted several major local and international exhibitors including Tabreed, AMC Protection-Siplast, Unibeton Ready mix, Swegon, Emirates Iron and Steel Factory, Corus Building Systems, Al Nahr, Al Jaber Aluminium Composite, BFS Industries, Buzon Pedestal International, Codaire, Date System, Eucoron Building Industries, Mammut, Faresin Building Division, Global Steel Enterprise Company, Gulf Extrusions, Inox System, Marantec Steuerungs, Polser FRP Panels, Paulstra Vibrachoc, Qatar Steel Company, Rubber World Industry, SEL Holding, Torterolo Re, Technal Middle East, Umicore France and Valeron Strength Films, among others. China will host country pavilions at each of the four shows, while a pavilion showcasing Italian expertise in the HVAC sector will be organised in collaboration with Mostra Convegno Expocomfort - the biennial international exhibition that is the world's largest in the HVAC sector. A Turkish pavilion organised by IMMIB will focus on structure and envelope.
The event will also feature a structured business meeting programme as well as more than 30 conference presentations.
“During the Structure Gulf Exhibition, an Ecosmart Conference will be held, during which local and international speakers will highlight use of high-quality concrete to improve durability, especially under extreme conditions typical in the region, while also contributing to constructing a ‘greener building’,” says Lecoq. Ecosmart Foundation, the co-organiser of this conference, is a Canadian non-profit organisation that develops and manages activities and projects promoting technical solutions and innovations for a sustainable economy.
At the Envelope Gulf Exhibition, a TBC Conference will feature five presentations focusing on the building envelope and joinery. TBC is a leading European consultant with expertise in technology and management of the building sector.
During the Intelligent Building Gulf and HVAC Gulf exhibitions, the Intelligent Building Group (IBG) will organise five presentations about intelligent building solutions and energy performance as part of the Intelligent Living Forum. The IBG is a non-profit organisation formed 25 years ago, which promotes the concepts and benefits of intelligent buildings mainly in the commercial, educational and healthcare sectors.
An International Architects Conference focusing on fair practices in the building sector, organised in association with the International Union by Architects (UIA), will also take place at the Building Futures Gulf by Batimat event and serve as a discussion platform between architects, contractors, owners and manufacturers.
Reed Exhibitions has a portfolio of over 460 events in 34 countries and organises nearly 50 trade fairs specialising in the building industry throughout the world including Batimat, and Mostra Convegno Expocomfort, the world’s leading event focused on the HVAC sector.
