Acommitment to equip customers with superior productivity through interaction and innovation is helping Atlas Copco, a leading global provider of industrial productivity solutions, to further reinforce its market position in the region.
While Atlas Copco has been present in the region for more than four decades, it established its regional headquarters in Bahrain during 2003 to cater to the increased demand for its products and to provide effective after-sales support.
“Atlas Copco Services Middle East is committed to providing its business partners in the region with innovative total compressed air and power solutions to increase their productivity. Its product range and services range from compressed air and gas solutions to aftermarket support and specialty rental. The company operates in the Gulf through a number of direct and indirect channels,” says Michael Sagermann, business line manager, portable compressors and generators division. “We offer innovative product solutions, offering unsurpassed quality, increased performance, efficiency, lower overall cost of ownership and an unrivalled after-sales structure through local regional depots to ensure that our machine population is fully supported.”
Atlas Copco recognises the importance of the Middle East and particularly the Gulf markets, which are in a strong growth phase. Construction and infrastructure development in the region are expected to continue at a very high level for the next two or three years, he says.
Commenting on business and competition in the region, he says: “Business growth in the region has progressed very positively, as customer demand for Atlas Copco products has increased steadily. The intensity of competition has also followed the same trend, but due to the superior quality, performance and lower cost of ownership, we have always maintained our competitive advantage.”
“All our products are designed to work in the harsh environments and extreme temperature of the Middle East,” he continues. • Our most popular compressor models are the 185 to 390 cfm (cu ft per minute) ranges as well as the higher flow 850 cfm ranges, but our challenge is to expand the business further with many other current and also new products to the market.”
Atlas Copco products are built for reliability, and ensure simple and easy operation and maintenance, giving many years of trouble-free service. In line with its strategy to offer new solutions to the market, the company launched a number of new products last year (2007). These include:
• The XA (M,T,H,V)S 650-850 CD7: This is a new single-axle, size-two, low-pressure range of 650 to 850 cfm (at 7 to 14 bar) compressors, which is today the only single-axle high-capacity line of compressors available in the market. These are small, light compressors, with an extensive list of standard features and with a complete range of options available, allowing customers to ensure that their product is perfectly suited to their specific application, Sagermann says.
• XA (H)S 107-137Dd7: A redesign of Atlas Copco’s 270 cfm range, this compresser follows on from the successful Series 7 hood concept, offering a small, light, flexible and modular build-up.
• TwinAir, available in both onshore and offshore (DNV approved) as well as low (7 bar) and high (25 bar) pressure versions. This product provides the largest volume of free air delivery in the smallest footprint, producing 1,975 to 2,232 cfm flow in a standard 20-ft container.
• QAS 125-150 portable generators: A new concept in the 125 to 150 kVA power band, these QAS units offer the utmost in application flexibility, combined with the MeccAlte alternator and powered by a Volvo engine, providing clean, stable and surge-free power.
The redesigned ranges will offer customers the utmost in performance and efficiency within the smallest dimensional platforms on the market, he adds.
“Atlas Copco works within a total solution strategy, by offering customers not only products, but also services, such as maintenance plans, financing, Cosmos fleet management, training and more. Our aim is to be the ‘first in mind-first in choice’ through our commitment to providing our customers superior productivity through interaction and innovation,” Sagermann says.
“Our plans for the New Year can be summed up thus: more sales, more new products and more new services,” concludes Sagermann.
Headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden, Atlas Copco caters to more than 150 markets, with its products and services ranging from compressed air and gas equipment, generators, construction and mining equipment, industrial tools and assembly systems, to related aftermarket and rental.
