LS systems promise safety from fires

With fires making frightening headlines worldwide by taking a dreadful toll on both human life and property, it is vital to install systems that ensure safety, particularly in the power supply sector.
LS Industrial Systems says its role is specifically to do this by supplying safe and reliable electrical protection systems as its strides ahead towards its goal of manufacturing zero-defect products.
“The use of devices like our switchgear and other products is necessary in the region’s factories and commercial facilities because it provides adequate protection and safety for human life and equipment in case of electrical hazards like short-circuits and explosions,” says Chung Man Kim, vice-chairman, LS Industrial Systems. “The concerned authorities supply power and it is our job to ensure the usage of the proper distribution devices in the factories, buildings and commercial facilities.”
The company set up its office in Dubai four years ago.
“We offer services in the power supply sector where electrical circuit protection and safety is concerned. The industrial, commercial and residential sectors use our products for electrical protection,” says Kim.
The Korea-based company has a turnover of approximately $1 billion with the Middle East accounting for $30 million of it.
In the UAE, the company’s products are sold through distributors and have been used on prestigious projects such as the International City Package No 7 (comprising 31 buildings and worth about Dh5 million) and the Damas Twin Tower on Sheikh Zayed Road (Dh2 million).
“In 2005, we supplied – directly from Korea – power panels for two desalination plants in Oman and Qatar. The Oman project took up 45 panels of LV (low-voltage) switchgear, while the Qatar plant featured 69 panels of LV switchgear and a motor control centre.”
The company manufactures various products dealing with LV, medium voltage (MV) and high voltage (HV) protection and measurement systems, electronic meters, switchgear, transformers, process automation, railway system solutions and variable frequency drives (for switching and protecting motors.)
