Italian designs set to impress visitors at office show

01 January 2008

Italy, which has been the home of contemporary design across all sectors of the interiors market, is planning to showcase the latest in designs at The Office Exhibition 2008, which will be held at the Dubai International Exhibition Centre from February 4 to 6.

More than 20 of the most prominent Italian manufacturers of office furniture, interiors and technology are expected to participate at the event. Among them are renowned suppliers such as Unifor, Emmegi, Iterby, Uffix, Della Rovere, Calia Italia, Manerba, Sagsa and many more, says a spokesman for the organiser.
“When you think about design, you can’t help but think of Italy,” says exhibitions director Paula Al Chami. “Enjoying the presence of so many of the most important Italian office-related manufacturers taking part in the exhibition, will especially please the architects, designers and specifiers, as well as the design-conscious end-users. Design is not only important in terms of functionality and ergonomics, it is also a main contributor to the image of a company, helping to set it apart from its competitors. At the same time, it helps to motivate staff and increase productivity.”
Alea, one of the exhibitors at the show will focus on design-oriented collections which have come in for appreciation from architects and designers in the region. The company, which provides customised solutions, will display its latest executive collection ‘Eracle’ – a blend of design and research into innovative materials.
“The range of furniture will have innovatively-designed legs that are made of phenolic plywood boards coated with anodised aluminium sheet, wood veneer or leather,” says area export manager Francesco Frara. “The desk tops are available in veneer, leather or lacquered crystal. Also new to the region is the operator system ‘Pegaso’ and the executive system ‘Archimede’.
Sagsa, another exhibitor at the show has over the years forged ties with renowned designers, including Bartoli Design, Roberto Pamio, Mario Mazzer and many others, to develop furniture ranges such as Milanolunga, Cadrega, Open Air and Media Age. These will be on display at the expo,” says a spokesman for the company.
“Della Rovere product lines include presidential, system as well as classic furniture ranges, a sophisticated and versatile range of office seating, upholstered seating for receptions and waiting areas with a variety of quality leathers, as well as a simple, linear range of partitions which creates great visual impact, while offering an infinite number of solutions,” says the spokesman.
Arper, another prominent Italian manufacturer, will put on display the new Aston collection, designed by Jean-Marie Massaud. An offshoot of the lounge chair of the same name, the range consists of three models: Direction, Office and Conference, distinguished especially by the height of the backrests. Also by Jean-Marie Massaud are the Fred tables, a collection which is described as being ideal for many different situations, especially for lounge and other contract areas.
Companies from around 25 different countries are taking part in The Office Exhibition 2008, the premium event for this industry in the Gulf.
