Power-Gen 2008 to shed light on new challenges

01 January 2008

Over 3,000 industry professionals are expected to participate at the Power-Gen Middle East 2008 conference considered to be the industry’s leading conference in the region to discuss on “The challenges of feeding a growing demand” in a region that is experiencing extraordinary growth in the demand for electricity and water resources.

The delegates will be kept abreast with the latest developments and ideas for the future of the Middle East power and water sectors over the three days of the conference, which will take place at the Bahrain International Exhibition Centre, starting from February 2.
The conference will also witness several industry leaders converging and expounding new ideas and solutions for the sector.
One of the most awaited speakers at the conference will be Dr Hisham Khatib of Jordan, a recent recipient of the World Energy Council’s 2007 Global Energy Award.
Dr Khatib will be making the introductory remarks and moderating the opening session of the region’s premier conference and exhibition for the power and water industries, to which he also contributes as a member of the advisory board.
Currently chairman of the Jordan Electricity Regulatory Commission, Dr Khatib has also served as Minister of Planning, Minister of Water and Irrigation and Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources for the government of Jordan, as director general of the Jordan Electricity Authority and as a senior energy expert for the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development in Kuwait in a career that spans over five decades.
“We are delighted that industry experts, such as Dr Khatib, are playing an active and important role in Power-Gen Middle East,” says conference director, Nigel Blackaby. “To be able to share his vast knowledge and experience will be of great interest to the conference delegates.”
Power-Gen Middle East will be held alongside the region’s premier exhibition for the power generation, transmission and distribution and water industries that will see over 100 companies displaying their leading products and services for the industry.
