Abu Dhabi is launching two major infrastructure public-private partnership (PPP) projects under the Partnership Projects framework issued by the Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO), for the procurement of three new schools and Phase Two of its street lighting upgrade programme.






Etihad Rail, the developer and operator of UAE’s national railway network, has announced that construction work at its operations and maintenance (O&M) unit in Al Faya, Abu Dhabi, is now 25 per cent complete.






Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa) said work is progressing at a steady pace on the 950MW Phase Four of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum (MBR) Solar Park, the largest concentrated solar power (CSP) project globally that features the world’s tallest solar power tower standing at 262.44 m.






Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA), the largest industrial company in the UAE outside oil and gas, announced the start-up of the first section of an expansion to the company’s Al Taweelah smelter. The 26 new reduction cells at Potline One at Al Taweelah will now ramp-up to produce some 30,000 tonnes of aluminium per year.






More than 70 per cent of the work has been completed on a major water desalination project at Umm Al Quwain being built at an investment of AED2.2 billion ($598 million).

The Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation (Enec) has announced the launch of commercial operations at Unit One of Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant. The UAE government entity mandated to deliver the nuclear programme, Enec is a part of ADQ, one of the region’s largest holding companies.






Dubai CommerCity (DCC), the first dedicated e-commerce free zone in the Middle East, North Africa and South Asia (Menasa) region, has launched 470,000 sq ft of new facilities as part of its first stage in line with its planned schedule. Utico, a full service utility company in Middle East and the only private water and power company in the UAE, said it has secured a a major contract from Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa) for the development of the 120 million imperial gallons (MIG) Hassyan water reservoir project.






Al Faris, which claims to have the largest fleet of cranes and other heavy equipment in the Middle East, said it recently deployed Demag CC 3800-1 lattice boom crawler crane for a challenging job at a power plant work site in the UAE which involved lifting 80-tonne heat recovery steam generators (HRSGs).
