O! Millionaire initiative aligns with Oman’s eco goals

Oman’s environmental initiative O! Millionaire seeks to protect the environment and conserve the Sultanate’s rich biodiversity in line with key objectives of Oman Vision 2040, Millionaire Investment, the company behind the initiative, said in a statement.
It (the initiative) also aims to contribute towards the country’s efforts to reduce carbon footprint and promote food security in alignment with the United Nation’s 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.
The programme will combine expertise in sustainable development, clean energy and organic food production to achieve its goal. Above all, it will mobilise people of Oman to be part of a greener, cleaner, cooler Oman that is both water and food secure, the company said.
A spokesperson for Millionaire Investment said: “Oman’s march of development is full of indicators in terms of protecting the environment and preserving natural resources. The objective of O! Millionaire is to support future environmental markers. For instance, our tree-planting initiative supports Oman’s efforts towards climate action and food security. The programme will control CO2 emissions from transport and industry through higher oxygen production from trees. By planting food- producing trees,
it will establish food security for the future of Oman. We will work towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, protecting people from the harmful effects of the environment, and effectively managing it to create a safe and prosperous society.”
While being a sustainable space for people to connect with nature and their community, it will be a hub for health-conscious visitors, with running and cycling paths, mechanical gym, and play parks for children, he added.
It will have an innovation centre for food security solutions creating job opportunities and providing hope for the future of Oman, a sustainability centre for education and engagement of the public and an ideal spot for school and family trips too.
The green certificate which participants buy to support the tree planting programme entitles them to an entry for a draw which can win them prizes up to OMR 5.2 million. The certificate gives participants two chances to win – one a raffle that pays out one winner OMR 10,000 every week and a draw that can win them prizes up to OMR 5.2 mn.
