Dammam wastewater project on track for 2023 commercial ops

RIYADH, February 23, 2023

Saudi Water Partnership Company (SWPC) has announced that work is moving at a steady pace on the  200,000-cu-m-day-capacity Dammam West ISTP Outfall Pipeline project and is on track for launch of commercial operations later this year.
 
A major project for the kingdom, Dammam ISTP is being developed at a total cost of SR900 million ($240 million) on a build, own, operate and transfer (Boot) model by a consortium of UAE-based Metito Company with its partners Moh and Orascom Construction. 
 
It is part of the Dammam West Independent Sewage Treatment Plant (ISTP) which is expandable up to 350,000 cu m/day for a 25-year term.
 
"With the work in full swing on Dammam project, SWPC is hopeful that it will launch its commercial operations later this year," stated CEO Engineer Khalid bin Zuwaid Al Quraishi after touring the wastewater treatment plant project site.
 
He was later briefed by the project team on the readiness of the station and the start of the trial operation as well the preparations being done ahead of the launch of commercial operations.
 
Deloitte Financial Advisory Services had acted as the lead and financial advisor; Atkins Global as technical advisor and Pinsent Masons as legal advisor for the project.-TradeArabia News Service
