RIYADH, March 28, 2024
Saudi Water Partnership Company has announced the financial close of the Al Rayis-Rabigh independent water transmission pipeline project, which is being set up at a cost of SR2.4 billion ($640 million).
The project will be operated through the private sector under a build-own-operate system.
A consortium comprising Cobra Company and Al Khareef Water and Energy Technology Company are implementing the project under a 35-year concession.
The project is considered the first-of-its-kind to be developed in partnership with the private sector and the first water transmission line project linking desalinated water production sources in the regions of Makkah Al-Mukarramah and Madinah.
The project's transport capacity is 500,000 cu m of desalinated water per day, and the storage capacity is 340,000 cu m, while the length of the water conveying line that runs in both directions is 150 km.
The project will supply the regions of Makkah Al-Mukarramah (including the holy sites) and Madinah with drinking water, achieving high levels of continuous supply of drinking water, in addition to improving the efficiency of water transportation in the two regions. - TradeArabia News Service
