RTA signs up as key sponsor for NAS Sports Tournament
DUBAI, April 28, 2019
Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) said it has signed a sponsorship agreement with Dubai Sports Council for the seventh edition of the Nad Al Sheba Sports Tournament, a major event in the country’s sporting calendar that will see more than 22,000 athletes – including amateurs and international legends like Zinedine Zidane and Falcao, in action.
Held under the patronage of Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and chairman of Dubai Sports Council (DSC), the NAS Sports Tournament has been held every year during Ramadan since 2013.
It is one of the anticipated events on the country’s sporting calendar and more than 22,000 athletes – including amateurs and international legends like Zinedine Zidane and Falcao, and even ambassadors and consul generals of different countries – have taken part in the tournament over the past six years.
The sponsorship deal was signed by Saeed Hareb, secretary general of DSC, and Yousif Ahmed Al Redha, chief executive officer of Corporate Administration Support Services Sector at RTA, in the presence of Nasser Aman Al Rahma, assistant secretary general of DSC, Saleh Al Marzouqi, director of DSC’s Sports Development section, and Sara Al Sayegh, director of communication and marketing department at DSC.
Expressing delight at the partnership, Hareb said: "This only adds more value to the Nad Al Sheba Sports Tournament. It has already achieved a lot over the past six years, boosting the technical levels of our athletes, spreading the culture of sports and physical activity and introducing new sports every year to the schedule. This year, 13 events will be a part of the NAS Sports Tournament.”
The seventh season of the tournament, being held under the slogan ‘Unlimited Capabilities’, will start on May 7 with an opening ceremony at the Nad Al Sheba Sports Complex and close on May 24.
The 13 events for this season are – Futsal, Volleyball, Padel, Fencing, Wheelchair Basketball, Futsal for People with Hearing Disabilities, NAS Night Challenge, the five km and 10km Run, 75km Cycle Race, 3x3 Basketball, Jiu-Jitsu, Cricket and Snowboarding. –TradeArabia News Service
