Limak unit embarks on big Kuwait recruitment drive
KUWAIT CITY, December 6, 2021
Limak Inşaat Kuwait, a subsidiary of Turkish builder Limak Holding, has announced plans to recruit Kuwaiti nationals in 91 new roles at its key projects in co-ordination with Ministry of Public Works (MPW).
With currently 55 Kuwaitis employed on-site, Limak is committed to increasing Kuwaitization at the T2 Project and is presently hiring across 36 job categories including engineering, architecture, accounting, safety and security and healthcare.
In partnership with the MPW and organised by the Public Authority for Manpower (PAM), Limak Inşaat Kuwait held a job fair for fresh graduates and interviewed 144 candidates interested in working at the company's key projects in Kuwait affiliated with MPW, namely the Kuwait International Airport Terminal II (T2) project.
Over 144 fresh graduates attended the event held at PAM’s theater in Al Raqi, said the statement from Limak.
The job fair reaffirms its commitment to involving nationals in the construction and future development of the iconic gateway project, in addition to preparing and empowering them for successful future careers in Kuwait’s private and public sectors.
The fair falls under the purview of the MPW's National Labour Programme, which aims to encourage Kuwaitization and provide job opportunities for Kuwaiti youth.
The event kicked off with a speech by Limak Senior Board Member Mohammad Alomar and a presentation by Limak Inşaat Kuwait Project Director Richard Meredith, before conducting on-the-spot one-on-one interviews with the applicants.
During the presentation, Meredith showcased the company’s operations and capabilities in Kuwait and abroad and demonstrated to the applicants the type of work environment they would be a part of including the T2 Contract and Airport Development Package and the Building and Carpark Package.
Al Omar said: "We would like to express our gratitude to PAM for providing Limak with the opportunity to contribute to the future development of Kuwait's youth by creating job opportunities through this job fair."
"Limak Holding is a global leader in construction that entered the Kuwaiti market in 2015 and in 2016, we established Limak Inşaat Kuwait S.P.C. under KDIPA's Foreign Direct Investment Law. We are the only leading multinational conglomerate that has the license to operate in Kuwait as a closed-joint company and we are Limak’s first independent entity operating outside of Turkey," he stated.
Since beginning operations in Kuwait, Limak has involved Kuwaiti youth in implementing our most prominent project in the country — Kuwait International Airport T2 — where we presently employ 55 Kuwaitis who were recruited through our previous training programs and commitments, remarked Al Omar.
"Today, with the support of Public Authority for Manpower, we continue to invest in the training, empowerment, and hiring employment of Kuwaiti youth. We wish the candidates good luck in their interviews and hope to see them work on our projects in the near future," he added.
PAM Deputy Director General for Manpower Protection Abdullah Al-Mutawtah said: “We are pleased to join MPW and Limak today in the first joint operation between the private and public sectors in the construction industry, which will create 91 job opportunities for Kuwaiti youth. The number of fresh graduates present today reinforces our belief in the benefits and capabilities of working in the private sector, and we hope to continue this initiative with MPW on future Kuwaitization projects.”
Limak began contributing to Kuwait’s development in 2015 with the construction and completion of 5201 West Abdullah Al-Mubarak Infrastructure Works (2015-2017), South Abdullah Al-Mubarak Infrastructure Works (2018-2020). Projects in progress include the Infectious Disease Hospital, Kuwait International Airport New Terminal II targeted to receive Leed Gold certification in addition to Package No. 2, and the Al-Mutlaa Residential project (N11).-TradeArabia News Service
