Safety science company UL to discuss LED lighting issues

CAIRO, October 27, 2018

Global safety science company UL is set to organise a technical workshop in Cairo, Egypt, on the topic ‘Safety and Energy Efficiency Regulations for LED Lighting, from International to Egypt requirements’.

The technical workshop will take place on October 29 in the Egyptian capital, introducing participants to the requirements for global lighting regulations and international compliance norms.

The half-day workshop is dedicated to the review of international panorama safety and energy efficiency regulations and requirements for LED lighting. It will also cover how the regulations and requirements apply in Egypt and how it affects lighting manufacturers in the country.

In attendance will be representatives from manufacturers, export agencies, consultants, New Cairo Authority and other government agencies. Participants at the workshop will gain insights and thus implement them from an informed position.

Walter Parmiani, principal engineer - Lighting division at UL, will lead the workshop and will introduce participants to US and EU safety and energy efficiency requirements and differences between mandatory and voluntary marks.

"This workshop will allow manufacturers, who develop products for Egypt and export to other countries, to get a clear understanding on the International compliance norms," he stated.

UL’s lighting performance and energy efficiency testing provides objective/independent confirmation of product performance claims by simulating anticipated everyday product usage in controlled laboratory settings.

Hamid Syed, vice-president and general manager in the Middle East, said: "This workshop is part of UL’s efforts to develop collaborative partnerships with government authorities and businesses by providing best world-class services to businesses."

UL provides independent product performance testing needed to demonstrate compliance with industry, national and international standards, using data from an objective source.

"UL has been hosting workshops and seminars, usually in conjunction with the government authorities to provide access to our expertise for our clients," he added.-TradeArabia News Service
