DUBAI, September 11, 2019
General Motors Africa and Middle East has appointed Kelly MacDonald as its new chief marketing officer across Chevrolet and GMC for the region.
MacDonald will lead the regional teams responsible for brand communications, advertising, digital marketing, retail experience and customer engagement, said a company statement.
Starting her career with GM in Detroit in 2016, MacDonald served as senior manager, GMC Advertising and Media, establishing herself early as a market leader. MacDonald was instrumental in the ideation and implementation of the GMC Like a Pro creative campaign, celebrating the emotional connection between truck and driver, while keeping all core values of ‘professional grade’ at the heart of the brand.
A leader with over 20 years of experience in automotive marketing, MacDonald worked with a number of manufacturers across marketing, sales and aftersales, now bringing a unique perspective to her role as CMO at GM, it said.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in marketing from Michigan State University and a Master of Business Administration from Oakland University, it added.
John Roth, president and managing director, GM Africa and Middle East, said: “MacDonald will be a strong asset for Africa and the Middle East, bringing innovative thinking underpinned by expert knowledge to our regional GM leadership team.”
“She will continue to lead both Chevrolet and GMC brands, producing hyperlocal marketing campaigns that resonate with consumers in the region, ensuring the legacy of both brands continues to thrive,” he said.
MacDonald said: “It is an exciting time to be in the automotive industry, especially in a region with a history of adopting the latest innovations, blazing a trail for international markets to follow.”
“I look forward to working with our teams and dealers to provide customers with best-in-class experiences and vehicles,” she added. – TradeArabia News Service
