Kanoo Shipping launches operations in Antarctica
MANAMA, January 20, 2020
Kanoo Shipping, a fully owned business division of Yusuf bin Ahmed Kanoo (YBA Kanoo), has launched its Antarctic operations through its office in South Africa by handling the private jet, Dassault Falcon 7X.
The Seatrade Middle East & Africa Ship Agent of the year in 2018 & 2019, provides a range of services to support national bases in Antarctica, including logistics support for numerous flights and ship agency services for cargo vessels that sail to the ice shelf each year.
“It is not often that a ship agent can possibly claim to be the first on a continent; but Kanoo Shipping has put in a claim following the handling of the first of this year's flights supporting various Antarctic research bases. We have developed a great relationship with many of the Polar research organisations worldwide to support both their flights, personnel and equipment as well as their vessels through our Kanoo Shipping Africa operation based in Cape Town. The world is no longer big enough,” Jonathan Bygrave, Divisional CEO of Kanoo Shipping, said.
Kanoo Shipping, established in 1911, operates in 20 countries offering a full range of ship agency services in all principal ports and offshore terminals served by 100% owned offices and joint ventures (JVs) across the region.
Kanoo Shipping is a founder shareholder, financial and operating partner in ‘S5 Agency World’. S5 Agency World provides a global reach and is the vehicle to participate in multi-regional and global business.
YBA Kanoo is one of the largest, independent family-owned multinational businesses in the Middle East with an extensive portfolio of complementary business units and strategic partnerships across a range of industry sectors. Established in 1890 as a family trading and shipping business in Bahrain, the company has evolved into a diversified conglomerate with a physical presence across the Middle East, North Africa, Europe and Asia. -TradeArabia News Service
