Raytheon Emirates launches internship programme for UAE students
ABU DHABI, June 6, 2021
Raytheon Emirates, a Raytheon Technologies subsidiary, has launched its annual internship programme supporting the UAE’s vision to develop highly-skilled Emirati talent. The internship offers 18 students on-the-job training to equip them with skills to support their future careers and ambitions.
The Emirati undergraduates to join the programme are from Abu Dhabi University, Zayed University, Khalifa University, Higher Colleges of Technology, Abu Dhabi Polytechnic, and the US-based Pennsylvania State University. Of the 18 students, 13 are being placed within Raytheon Emirates’ Cyber Security and Legal and Business Development departments in Abu Dhabi.
The other five interns will gain practical aerospace experience at the Collins Aerospace maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) center in Dubai. Collins Aerospace is a Raytheon Technologies unit.
“This internship programme fosters aspiring Emirati technical and functional talent while presenting them with the opportunity to gain real-life exposure to their future professions,” said Alan Davis, Raytheon Emirates chief executive. “We are committed to help empower the local knowledge base, accelerate the development of national human capabilities and support the expansion of the UAE defence and aerospace ecosystem.”
The internship will be conducted virtually and in-person at the Raytheon Emirates Head Office in Abu Dhabi and at the Collins Aerospace MRO center in Jebel Ali. Students will receive coaching and guidance for eight weeks from experienced personnel to enhance their skills.
“Practical experience and on-the-job training supplements the knowledge students gain in their university and gives them the opportunity to work on real-world complex business projects they could face in the future,” said Fatima Alshamsi, Raytheon Emirates talent acquisition manager. “The internship will provide students with a glimpse of working with a dynamic and diverse global team.”
Raytheon Emirates is committed to fostering Emirati talent as part of a diverse multi-national workforce. In collaboration with the UAE government, industry partners and higher education institutions, the company is actively exploring other opportunities to develop Emirati professionals in cyber, engineering, research and development, design, manufacturing and programme management.
