Manama, Bahrain, March 16, 2022

Aluminium Bahrain (Alba), the world’s largest smelter ex-China, has won the International Safety Award – Merit by the British Safety Council in recognition of its commitment to keeping its workforce safe and healthy during the calendar year of 2021.

Commenting on this award, Alba’s Chief Executive Officer, Ali Al Baqali said: “Luck always run out, but Safety is good for life. We are pleased to win again the prestigious International Safety Award by the British Safety Council as we stay on course to attain our objective -- Together #1 in Safety and ESG.
2021 was truly a golden year in many aspects as we went above and beyond to keep our human capital safe amidst the Covid-19 crisis and closed the year with more than 20 million safe working hours without Lost Time Injuries (LTI). Today, we are steering towards 24 million safe working hours without (LTI).”

Now in their 64th year, the International Safety Awards recognise and celebrate organisations from around the world which have demonstrated to the satisfaction of the scheme’s independent judges their commitment to preventing workplace injuries and work-related ill health during the previous calendar year. The awards also acknowledge organisations that have shown commitment to the wellbeing and mental health at work.--TradeArabia News Network
