Microsoft sees 70pc surge in Skype usage

SAN FRANCISCO, April 1, 2020

Microsoft said that the number of people using its Skype video calling system has surged by 70 per cent in a month to 40 million people using it daily, as more people stay home due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Skype-to-Skype calling minutes jumped 220 per cent from a month earlier, the company said in a blog post.

The IT giant said that to help people get connected even faster, it recently introduced a new feature in Skype called Meet Now. Meet Now lets you easily create video meetings in as little as three clicks for free, no signups or downloads required.

The company also added new features in its Microsoft Teams, which is used by more than 44 million people every day, promoting the use of the workplace chat app. – TradeArabia News Service
